Open flower – make 2
With Color A, Ch 15 (this is beginning chain);
Rnd 1. Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next, Sl St in each of next 2, [skip 1, Sl St in next] twice, SC in next, HDC in next, DC in each of next 2, TR in next, (2 TR, DC) in next (last) Ch, Ch 3, Sl St in same (last) Ch;
rotate your work and continue working on opposite side of the beginning chain – Ch 3, (DC, 2 TR) in same (last) Ch, TR in next, DC in each of next 2, HDC in next;
Ch 8, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next, Sl St in next, [2 Sl St in next, Sl St in next] twice, Sl St in next Ch of the beginning chain. Fasten off. Side facing you is Right Side.
Join Color B into same place where last Sl St was made, Ch 6, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook, HDC in next, Sl St in each of next 2, Sl St in same St where you joined. Fasten off.
Closed flower – make 3
With Color A, Ch 7 (this is beginning chain);
Rnd 1. SC in 2nd Ch from hook, HDC in next, DC in each of next 2, TR in next, (2 TR, DC) in next (last) Ch, Ch 3, Sl St in same last Ch;
rotate your work and continue working on opposite side of the beginning chain – Ch 3, (DC, 2 TR) in same (last) Ch, TR in next, DC in each of next 2, HDC in next, SC in next;
droplet – Ch 5, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook, HDC in next, Sl St in each of next 2, Sl St in same St where last SC was made. Fasten off. Side facing you is Right Side.
With Right Side facing you – thread Color B into a sewing needle and make 2 long stitches in the center of the droplet.
Leaf
The leaf consists of three smaller leaves that are joined together.
Smaller leaf – make 3
With Color C, Ch 10 (this is beginning chain);
Row 1. Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in each of next 2, HDC in each of next 5, (HDC, Ch 2 – this will create Ch-2 arch, HDC) in next (last) Ch;
rotate your work and continue working on opposite side of the beginning chain – HDC in each of next 5, turn.
Row 2. Ch 3, SC in 2nd Ch and in next, HDC in next St, 2 HDC in next, HDC in next, SC in each of next 3, (SC, Ch 2, SC) in Ch-2 arch, SC in next, HDC in next, 2 HDC in next, HDC in next, turn.
Row 3. Ch 2, Sl St in 2nd Ch, Sl St in each of next 2 Sts. Fasten off.
Leaf stem and joining the small leaves
Ch 15, Sl St in Ch-2 arch of first leaf, Ch 1, Sl St in Ch-2 arch of second leaf, Ch 1, Sl St in Ch-2 arch of third leaf, Ch 1, continue working along chain – Sl St in each chain to the end. Fasten off.
Flower stem
How to join the flower: insert hook from the Wrong Side into the middle stitch of the flower top, YO, pull yarn through the stitch and through the loop on your hook, Ch 1.
With Color C, Ch 40, join open flower, Sl St in last Ch before you joined and in each of next 3 Chs,
Ch 20, join open flower, Sl St in last Ch before you joined and in each of next 3 Chs,
Ch 16, join closed flower, Sl St in last Ch before you joined and in each of next 3 Chs,
[Ch 15, join closed flower, Sl St in last Ch before you joined and in each of next 3 Chs] twice,Ch 1, Sl St in same Ch, rotate your work and Sl St in each Ch along the stem working toward the beginning. Fasten off.
Finishing
Using a sewing needle and matching thread, join the leaf to the flower stem. Block the applique.
