St Patrick’s Day Mickey and Minnie Heart Appliques

 

These crochet St. Patrick’s Day appliques are inspired by Mickey and Minnie Mouse characters and will be perfect for those who celebrate this holiday! You can use these St. Patrick’s Day appliques to embellish your clothing, make a pin or, use them in a way you would like! 

 

 

These appliques are part of my heart-shaped Mickey and Minnie series and they have heart-shaped faces instead of traditional round faces. I hope, that with these St Patrick’s Day Crochet Pattern for the Mickey and Minnie Appliques, the luck of the Irish will be yours!

St. Patrick’s Day Mickey and Minnie Crochet Heart Appliques

Abbreviations:

Ch – chain

HDC – half double crochet

SC- single crochet

Sl St – slip stitch

St (Sts) – stitch (stitches)

 

 

Crochet Mickey Leprechaun Applique

 

Finished size:

The Mickey Crochet Applique is about 2-1/2” (6 cm) tall and 2-3/4” ( 7 cm) wide.

 

 

Materials: 

For or the Mickey Leprechaun face I’ve used cotton light weight yarn Patons Grace, color – Fiesta, for the Ears – Patons Grace, color – black, and crochet hook D/3 – 3.25 mm.

For the Hat: cotton crochet thread size 10, colors –  green, black and yellow, crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm

 

Instructions:

1. Make Face and Ears. A free crochet pattern for the Heart Face and Ears can be found in the earlier post for the Mickey and Minnie Heart Appliques.

 

2. Make a Hat

Leprechaun’s Hat 

Instructions:

Ch 13,

Row 1. HDC into 3^rd Ch and into each Ch to the end, turn.

Row 2. Skip first St, Sl St into 2^nd St,

Black Belt: change color to black – insert hook into next St, yarn over, draw the black color through the St and the loop on the hook.

 

 

Do not cut green color off, you will be carrying it across the row.

Continue with black color: Ch 1, SC into same St and into each of the next 6 Sts. Hold green color along the previous row and enclose it in stitches from back of work as you work forward.

 

 

Change color: Work the final stitch with the black color, but do not complete the stitch. You will have 2 loops remain on the hook. Drop black color and draw through the loops on the hook green color and complete St.  Cut off black color. Turn.

Row 3-5. Ch 2, HDC into first St and into each of the next 6 Sts. Turn.

Row 6. Ch 2, 2 HDC into first St and into each of the next 5 Sts, 2 HDC into last St.

Fasten off.

Using yellow color, embroider the Buckle in the middle of the black belt.

 

3. Sew Hat on the Face.

 

 

Crochet Minnie with a Bow applique

 

Finished size:

The Minnie Crochet Applique is about 2-1/2” (6 cm) tall and 2-3/4” ( 7 cm) wide.

 

Materials: 

For or the Minnie with a Bow face I’ve used cotton light weight yarn Patons Grace, color – Ginger, for the Ears – Patons Grace, color – black, and crochet hook D/3 – 3.25 mm.

For the mini Bow I was using crochet cotton thread size 10, color – green, and crochet hook 6/1.8 mm.

 

Instructions:

1. Make Face and Ears. A free crochet pattern for the Heart Face and Ears can be found in the earlier post for the Mickey and Minnie Heart Appliques.

2. Make a Bow. A free pattern and a video for the crochet small Bow can be found HERE.

3. Sew Bow on the Face.

 

 

 

 

Crochet Mickey with a Shamrock Applique

 

Finished size:

This Mickey Crochet Applique is about 3-3/4” (9.5 cm) tall and 4” (10 cm) wide.

 

Materials: 

For this Mickey with a Shamrock face I’ve used medium weight yarn, color – light green, for the Ears medium weight yarn, color – black, and crochet hook H/8 – 5 mm.

For the Shamrock I was using crochet cotton thread size 10, color – green, and crochet hook 6/1.8 mm.

 

Instructions:

2. Make a Shamrock. A free pattern for the crochet Shamrock applique can be found HERE.

 

 

3. Sew Shamrock on the Face.
