If you like to knit or crochet, you probably have seen on the Internet amazing images of Fiber Coral Reef project installations around the world. The goal of Coral Reef projects is to raise awareness about how fragile the underwater world is and how climate change and humans are affecting it.
I was always fascinated by the Fiber Coral Reef projects and was dreaming to see it with my own eyes. I also wanted to participate in creating one as well.
I was very excited when I found out that the September 2023 Coral Reef installation will be in Pacific Northwest where I live. I immediately grabbed my hook and started making corals for this project!
In this post, I will be publishing pictures of the pieces I made for the Coral Reef project. Later on, when the installation happens, I will add pictures of the finished coral reef (here is the post with photos from the final exhibition – PNW Community Coral Reef Project).

The pattern I used for my corals is free and available on my website here: Crochet Hyperbolic Coral.
