You probably didn’t know that some of my favorite things to crochet are doilies! I learned how to crochet when I was about 13 and the first thing I crocheted was a doily.
After that, I made another doily and another and then still more. I think I have probably made a couple of dozens of doilies in my life … so far.
Most of them were given away as gifts, but I still have a couple of them to keep as a memory.

For me doilies are perfect meditative crocheting – you just crochet in circles by following the pattern.
The repetition of the pattern has a calming effect. It is very relaxing and therapeutical. This is something that many of us need right now.
I also read that repetition of a crochet pattern has been shown to release serotonin – a “happy” chemical. It definitely makes me happy when I see the beautiful result!
When I saw doilies designed by Zoya, I immediately wanted to crochet them! They are not your “grandma” doilies that we all tend to think of.
They are unique, contemporary, have absolutely stunning designs and are very intricate.
Such doilies will make beautiful and unique handmade Birthday gifts, gifts for Mother’s Day, Christmas or any other occasion.
They can be used as traditional table decoration or framed as beautiful wall art. You can see more of my DIY crochet wall art ideas HERE.
It was hard to choose which doily to crochet as they are all gorgeous. I decided to crochet doily Birgitta and I am really happy with how it turned out! Instructions are easy to follow and well written.
The pattern for doily Birgitta is available in Zoya’s Etsy shop HERE.
If you like doilies, check out more of these gorgeous doily designs I found on Etsy website.
For my doily I used Aunt Lydia’s crochet cotton threads size 10, color – Cream.
Many beautiful color choices are available of Aunt Lydia crochet cotton threads, here are some of my favorite: Coral, Light Peach, Orchid Pink.
So, if you are an advanced crocheter and are looking for your next project – think about making one of Zoya’s doily. You will not be disappointed!
Happy crocheting!

Stunning! Bless you for having the patience to make this beautiful doily.
I’ve been having a blast looking through your applique patterns. You’re such a cute designer. I made your St. Patty’s shamrock (wearing a hat) last night and it came out great. 😀
Thanks for all the patterns!
