A beautiful crochet Ladybug Applique for all Ladybug lovers! This Ladybug is made in the shape of a heart and it is part of my heart-shaped applique collection. It is easy to make and perfect for any embellishment! I used these appliques for yarnbombing on my backyard – to make Ladybug Yarn Tree.
You can experiment with different size yarn and hooks to make your Ladybug in different sizes. Also, feel free to use different materials for the Ladybug spots.
The pattern for this crochet Ladybug Applique is also available as a print-friendly, styled and advertisement-free PDF file in my Etsy shop.

Ladybug Spots
For Ladybug spots I’ve used tiny round buttons, mini buttons in a shape of a heart, beads and crocheted small black circles.
Small Circles
With black color cotton crochet thread size 10 and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm, make an adjustable ring.
Rnd 1. Ch 2, 10 HDC into ring. Draw the loop closed. To make it easier to do, first untwist the tail. Then pull the tail to draw the loop closed tightly. Then pull the tail from back side to draw the loop closed tightly. Join with Sl St in top of Ch 2.
Fasten off and weave in one end. Leave the second end to be long enough to sew the circle on the Ladybug. Make as many circles as you would like. Sew them on the Ladybug.
Sew on beads for the eyes or you can embroider them instead. (For babies and small children items – embroider the eyes on).
