Italian Christmas cake Pandoro Di Verona

This amazing Pandoro Di Verona cake is a traditional Italian Christmas Cake which is not only tasty but also is very beautiful!

It is also a very unique cake in that no baking is required. You purchase an already baked sweet Christmas Italian bread Pandoro made by Bauli.

All you need to do is make Italian custard and decorate your cake. It is as easy as it sounds!

I decided to make this cake for our family Christmas as my husband’s grandfather was Italian and I wanted to bring some Italian traditions into our Christmas celebration.

The cake turned out amazingly delicious and everybody loved it! It also looked very beautiful on the table.

The recipe for this Italian Christmas Cake was adapted from Vinsenzosplate website. The website also has a video for this cake.

The recipe for the custard is very easy to follow. I made half of the recommended custard as looking at the recipe it seemed like a lot.

After I made it, I found that it is enough custard to spread it between layers.

But if you want to have a piece of cake with extra custard on the side, you need to make the recommended amount of custard.

Also, I decreased the amount of sugar in the custard by ¼. My husband agrees that less sugar tastes just fine.  You, of course, can adjust the sweetness level as you wish.

The main ingredient of this cake is Pandoro – a star-shaped sweet Italian Christmas cake made by Bauli which I’ve purchased on Amazon.

The flavor of this cake reminds me of the traditional Ukrainian Easter bread. So next time I will try to make this cake from scratch using the Easter bread recipe.
