Creating this Blue Heron crochet wall art (or, to be more precise, mixed media art) was inspired by my fascination with this beautiful and elegant bird that we often see where we live.
This Blue Heron wall art will make an attractive small decoration for your house. It will also make a great handmade gift.

The Great blue heron is very common in the Pacific North West. You will certainly see it near the rivers, lakes, or streams. Here is a picture of the blue heron that I took during one of our weekends near the river.
For this mixed media canvas art project, I used two different materials – crocheted appliques and small rocks.
For the blue heron crochet applique, I used my previously designed pattern. The link to the pattern can be found below in the pattern I used section.
I love to create wall decorations on canvas using crochet appliques. It is pretty easy – you just need to crochet appliques, arrange them on a canvas, and then glue them down.

Happy Crocheting!
I’m on the head where it says 7 dc+hdc+sl 1 St in next (last) st. There doesn’t seem to be enough space to do 7 of these in one last stitch?
It is enough space to do all these stitches in one chain. The chain has a tendency to stretch.
