To make this garland, you just need to crochet graduation caps and attach them to a string. This project is also a wonderful stash buster project as it requires very small amounts of yarn.
For this garland, I used a crochet Graduation Cap applique pattern that I designed earlier for a handmade graduation card. The pattern is free and you will find the link below in the Pattern I used section.

Crocheted garlands are easy projects and they are perfect to add a handmade touch to your home decor.

How to Make Crochet Graduation Garland
Directions:
1. Make all the pieces.
For my garland, I made five graduation caps. You can always make your garland shorter or longer and adjust the number of pieces as needed.

2. Crochet a chain about 47” long (the length of the chain will depend on how long you want your bunting to be). Leave on each end about 5-7 inches for tying the bunting, then arrange the pieces.
3. Using a sewing needle and matching thread, sew each piece to the string.

I hope you enjoyed this crochet graduation garland idea!
Happy Crocheting!

Let me begin by saying I love your work and have made several pieces.
I have to ask about the ‘HDC2tog’ written in the ‘Graduation Cap Applique Pattern’ I have been crocheting for years and I’m sorry to have to ask this, but “Is this the same as ‘2 HDC in next’ in Rows 2 and 4 of the ‘Top Part of the cap? If not, please clarify. This was in the Instructions for the ‘top part’ of the cap and I’ve never seen it written like this.
Thanks,
Joy
HDC2tog – it stands for half double crochet 2 stitches together. It is not the same as 2 HDC in next St.
Here are the instructions on how to make HDC2tog:
Step 1: Yarn over the crochet hook.
Step 2: Insert the crochet hook into indicated stitch.
Step 3: Yarn over the crochet hook again and pull the yarn through the stitch. You should now have three stitches on your hook.
Step 4: Yarn over the crochet hook.
Step 5: Insert the crochet hook into the next stitch.
Step 6: Yarn over the crochet hook again and pull the yarn through the stitch. You should now have five stitches on your hook.
Step 7: Yarn over the crochet hook one last time.
Step 8: Pull the yarn through all five stitches on your crochet hook.
