I have to say that I don’t like to wear hats. But as we were planning to go to the mountains during Christmas break, I decided to crochet for myself a new hat and embellish it with a beautiful faux fur pom-pom I found in Etsy (you will find the link in the “Materials” section below).
Besides designing my own patterns, I also love to make beautiful items created by other wonderful designers. You can find them in the Pattern Reviews section on this website.
Last summer I made a beautiful crochet bag using the pattern from TheEasyDesign. So, when I decided to make a hat, I returned to TheEasyDesign shop again.
In her shop, April has a lot of different hat designs. For my new project, I choose the pattern for a beautiful Juliet hat.
The Juliet hat is designed using textured stitches like bobbles, HDC in third loop, and Xs which make it look distinctly different from other hat designs.
Making hats is a great way to practice your crochet skills. You can start with simple hats with no complicated stitches and when you are confident with the basics, move to higher skill level projects like this hat.
I think this crochet hat will make a beautiful project for yourself as well as a wonderful handmade gift for Christmas, Birthdays, Mother’s Day or any other occasion.
About the pattern:
The pattern for the Juliet hat is available in TheEasyDesign store on Etsy. The pattern is well written, easy to follow and includes sizing from toddler through adult large.
The instructions have lots of pictures and all stitches are well explained. In spite of the complicated look, this hat worked up very fast.
Also, I had to make some adjustments to the pattern due to the size of my yarn. The pattern has instructions on how to adjust it and my hat turned out great!
Materials I used:
For this hat, I used one Sweet Roll of Premier yarn. Unfortunately, the color that I used is not available anymore, but there are a lot of other beautiful colors available.
I also attached to my hat a gorgeous orange-brown in the middle with black tips faux fur pompom that I purchased on Etsy HERE.
So, if you are looking for a hat to crochet – make this Juliet hat. You will not be disappointed!
Happy Crocheting!
