Ideas on Use of Crochet Appliques for Embellishment

Crochet applique patterns can be used in many different ways. Their relatively small size makes them cute and perfect embellishments for almost any project – baby blankets, hats, scarfs, pants, skirts, sweaters and more!

While I enjoy crocheting, I especially love to design appliques because it is challenging for me to create a pattern that is both attractive, do-able, and that I would feel happy sharing with others.

Appliques can be attached to other handmade projects. Also, you can use them to embellish items that you’ve bought and they will look unique, attractive and sparkling!

In this post, I will show you a couple of examples of how I embellished plain items that I bought at the store using some of my appliques.

In these examples, for the embellishment, I used my favorite crochet ocean theme appliques – seashells, seahorses, starfish and coral branches. I also used beads and cute buttons.

Now, let’s look at how I embellished my summer hat with crochet seashells and starfish.  Look how easily a plain hat is turned into a very attractive and unique accessory!  It also wonderfully complements my summer handbag!
