If you are tired of the same boring denim jeans, in this post I will share with you my idea for turning your jeans into something stylish, awesome and unusual by using your crochet skills! Your jeans will look beautiful, attract attention and no one else will have such jeans!

There are many different ways to make your jeans more interesting. You can embroider them if you know how to do embroidery, you can add ready-made appliques or patches, you can embellish your jeans with sequins, rhinestones, or studs and more!
If you know how to crochet, you can make by yourself crochet appliques/motifs for embellishment and then sew them onto the jeans. On my website you can find many applique designs suitable for transforming both adult and children jeans into one of a kind attention getters!
I saw how one mom used my Flamingo applique for her daughter’s jeans and they looked amazing! Make sure check out how I made a Monster patch for my son’s pants! The only downside is that he could not wait to tear holes into his other pants to add them to his unique monster pants collection.

For your jeans embellishment you can choose any part of jeans you wish – the bottom side as I did, the bottom along the hem, the pockets, along the hips, or whatever part of your jeans you like!
Materials:
For my appliques I prefer to use crochet cotton threads. For this jeans embellishment project I used Aunt Lydia’s crochet cotton thread size 10, color – silver and hook size 1.8 mm.
Here are the motifs I used for my jeans decoration:
Irish Leaves – very often used in Irish Lace crochet and in freeform.
You can use your own ideas and your favorite motif patterns, or you can use the same motifs as I did.
How to attach crochet applique:
- First, if you were using 100% crochet cotton, you need to gently press your motifs under a hot iron to give them a nice finished look. Place a slightly damp cloth on top of your crocheted piece before ironing. Gently press the cloth with iron, do not press hard or iron sideways. Never iron acrylic yarn.
2. Arrange the finished motifs in a way you would like and pin them in place.
3. Start with the motif in the center. Using a sewing needle and a double thickness of matching sewing thread, sew it on. Sew motifs on from the right side. Bring the thread from the back toward the front, through the appliqué, leaving a knot of thread on the back side.
4. Usually, I neatly stitch the motif around the perimeter and then make a couple of stitches in the middle of each solid area to ensure it is secure. I am using backstitch, but you can also use running stitch if you wish.
I hope you enjoyed this idea for crochet jeans embellishments!
