Crochet Candy Corn Heart Applique

This crochet Candy Corn applique is cute, made in the shape of a heart and 100% sugar-free! Using this pattern you can create a wonderful Autumn or Halloween decoration.

By the way, did you know that October 30 is National Candy Corn Day?  A quick google search also estimated that each year, over 9 billion candy corns are eaten each year!

When people think about candy corn, most will think about traditional candy corn – yellow, orange, and white. But did you know that candy corn comes in different colors depending on the holiday? 

Reindeer corn for Christmas – green, white, and red, Cupid corn for Valentine’s Day – pink, red and white, Bunny corn for Easter – pastel yellow, pink, green, and lavender. You can adapt my crochet candy corn heart applique to any of these holidays!

This crochet candy corn heart is about 3-1/4″.

Materials:

Red Heart Super Saver Acrylic Yarn, worsted weight #4 yarn, White

Red Heart Super Saver Acrylic Yarn, worsted weight #4 yarn, Pumpkin

Red Heart Super Saver Acrylic Yarn, worsted weight #4 yarn, Bright Yellow

Crochet hook size H/8 – 5 mm

Note:

How to change to a new color

Work the final Stitch of the Row with the first color, but do not complete the Stitch. You will have 2 loops remain on the hook. Drop first color and draw through the loops on the hook new color and complete Stitch.

With white:
Ch 4 (Ch 1 and Ch 3 as DC),
Row 1. 4 DC in 4th Ch from hook – total 5 DC (including Ch 3 as first DC), turn.

Row 2. Ch 1, SC in each St across – 5 SC, change color to orange (see Note), turn.

Row 3. Ch 3 (counts as DC), DC in first St, DC in next, 3 DC in next, DC in next, 2 DC in next – 9 DC, turn.

Row 4. Ch 1, SC in each St across – 9 SC, change color to yellow (see Note), turn.

Row 5. Ch 1, SC in each St across – 9 SC, turn.

Row 6. Skip two first Sts, 5 DC in next – first shell,  skip one, Sl St in next, skip one, 5 DC in next – second shell, skip one, Sl St in last.

Edge

Work around the heart making one SC in SC-row ends and 2 SC in DC-row ends.

Rnd 1. Ch 1, 7 SC along first side, 3 SC in tip of the heart, 7 SC along second side, *SC in first St of the shell, 2 SC in 3 next Sts, SC in next*, 

Sl St in St between two shells, 

repeat from * to * one more time, SC in next, Sl St to join.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.
