Make this cute Halloween crochet Unicorn applique to bring some magic to the holiday! This crochet Unicorn applique is made in traditional candy corn colors and is embellished with small candy corn buttons.

Abbreviations:
Ch – chain
DC – double crochet
DC2tog – double crochet two stitches together
HDC – half double crochet
Rnd – round
SC- single crochet
SC2tog – single crochet two stitches together
Sl St – slip stitch
St (Sts) – stitch (stitches)
TR – treble crochet
Materials:
For the face: cotton medium weight yarn Sugar’n Cream, color – white
For the horn: cotton medium weight yarn Sugar’n Cream, color – yellow
cotton medium weight yarn Sugar’n Cream, color – orange
cotton medium weight yarn Sugar’n Cream, color – white
For the muzzle: cotton light weight yarn Patons Grace, color – yellow
For the eyes: cotton light weight yarn Patons Grace, color – black (you can use black embroidery floss instead)
Hooks and Other Materials:
Crochet hook size E/4 – 3.5 mm

Finished size:
This Unicorn is about 5-1/2” (14 cm).
Instructions:
- Make a Face
With white yarn and hook size H/8 – 5 mm:
Ch 4;
Rnd 1. Working under both loops, make all of the next stitches into the 4th Ch from hook (the first Ch made) – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, HDC+DC in first St, 3 TR in next St, 2 DC in next St, DC into each of next 3 Sts, HDC into Ch 1 St, (DC+TR+DC) in next St (Heart point), HDC into Ch 1 St, DC into each of next 3 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 TR in next St, DC+HDC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 3. Ch 3, SC in top of first St of previous round, 2 SC in next St;
making first Ear – Ch 6, SC in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next Ch, HDC in each of next 3 Chs;
SC in next St of the Rnd 2, 2 SC in each of next 3 Sts, then SC in each of the next 6 Sts, (DC+TR+DC) in next St (Heart point), SC in each of the next 6 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 3 Sts, SC in next St;
making second Ear – Ch 6, SC in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next Ch, HDC in each of next 3 Chs;
2 SC in next St, SC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
2. Make a Horn
With yellow medium weight yarn and hook 5 mm,
Ch 5,
Row 1. SC in 2nd Ch from the hook and in 3 next – 4 SC. Turn.
Row 2. SC in each St across – 4 SC. Turn.
Row 3. SC in 1st St, SC2tog, SC in last (change color to orange – see instructions below) – 3 SC. Turn.
How to change to a new color
- Work the final SC of the Row with the first color, but do not complete the Stitch.
2. You will have 2 loops remain on the hook.
3. Drop first color and draw through the loops on the hook new color and complete Stitch.
Row 4, 5. SC in each St across – 3 SC. Turn.
Row 6. SC in each St across (change color to white) – 3 SC. Turn.
Row 7. Ch 2, DC2tog, Ch 1.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
3. Make a Mane
With yellow medium weight yarn and hook 5 mm, Ch 15, Sl St into St, following the second Ear, Ch 17. Cut the yarn leaving a small tail, draw tail through the loop and pull tight. Trim beginning tail.
With orange medium weight yarn and hook 5 mm, Ch 15, Sl St in next St, Ch 17. Cut the yarn leaving a small tail, draw tail through the loop and pull tight. Trim beginning tail.
Make a couple of stitches with orange yarn to attach Mane to the Face.
4. Make a Muzzle
With yellow cotton light weight yarn and hook size E/4 – 3.5 mm:
Ch 6, DC in 4th Ch from hook, DC in next Ch, 6 DC in next Ch, now working on opposite side of Ch- DC in next Ch, 4 DC in next (last Ch), join with Sl St.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
5. Finishing
Sew Horn and Muzzle on the Unicorn’s face.
Embellish your Candy Corn Unicorn with buttons.
With black yarn (or embroidery floss) embroider the eyes.
