I made this crochet Haunted House for my son’s room. As with most kids of his age (he is 9), he likes Halloween a lot and he likes to decorate his room for this holiday.
So, this Haunted House now is hanging in my son’s room in good company with Spooky Spider garland, crochet Halloween bunting and Ghost coasters.
More of my holiday crochet designs can be found on this website under the tag Halloween. In this collection you will find such traditional Halloween characters as a crochet Bat applique and crochet Black Cat applique. Also, you will find there a crochet Spider and even a Halloween dog bandana!
This Haunted House pattern is designed with using tapestry crochet. If you are not familiar with this technique, don’t be scared :).
Tapestry crochet is relatively simple and easy to learn. Anyway, it is always good to learn something new when we have a chance to advance our skills, isn’t it?

Abbreviations:
Ch – chain
DC – double crochet
DC2tog – double crochet two stitches together
DC3tog – double crochet three stitches together
Rnd – round
SC – single crochet
SC2tog – single crochet two stitches together
Sl St – slip stitch
St (Sts) – stitch (stitches)
Skill Level:
Intermediate (must know tapestry crochet).
Finished Size:
This crochet Haunted House is about 4-1/2” x 5-1/4”.
Yarn:
- Light weight #3 cotton yarn, black (Color A). I used Patons Grace cotton yarn, color – night.
- Light weight #3 cotton yarn, yellow (Color B). I used Patons Grace cotton yarn, color – sunkissed.
Hook and other materials:
Crochet hook 1/2.75 mm
Stitch Marker
Cute Halloween buttons: Bats, Ghosts and Pumpkin.
Notes:
1. The Ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
2. How to change to a new color.
Work the final Stitch with the first color, but do not complete the Stitch. You will have 2 loops remain on the hook.
Drop first color and draw through the loops on the hook new color and complete the Stitch.
3. This pattern uses tapestry crochet technique – working over the color not in use.
To carry the unused color, lay it on top of the previous row and work over it.
When working on the right side, hold unused color behind your work; when working on the wrong side, hold unused color in front of your work.
This will prevent unused color from being visible on the right side.
Instructions:
To make this Haunted House, you will need to crochet Haunted House, Spider Web and Moon.

Hi, I made the black cat and the bat crochet patterns, I love them. Going to make the haunted house next, will let you know how it turns out. I am using orange instead of yellow for the haunted house. Do you have a witch pattern in your arsenal or do you know where I can find one?
Witch on broom silhouette? Thank you, Christina

Hi Christina,
I am glad to hear that you like my black cat and bat designs! I hope you will like my haunted house as well. Looking forward to hearing your feedback!
I don’t have a witch pattern and I haven’t seen witch on the broom pattern by other designers. Looks like I need to create one 🙂
