This crochet Halloween pincushion ia about 3-3/4” (9.5 cm) in diameter
Yarn:
- Medium weight #4 yarn. I used Red Heart Super Saver, Color – carrot
- Crochet cotton thread size #10. I used Aunt Lydia’s crochet thread #10
Hooks and other materials:
- Crochet hook size 7/4.5 mm
- Crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm
- Stitch marker
- Poly-fil stuffing
- Small piece of cardboard about 4.5 x 4.5” (11.5 cm x 11.5 cm)
- Scissors
- Weighted stuffing material (I used Poly Pellets weighted stuffing beads)
- Small Ziploc bag about 2 x 3” (5 cm x 7.5 cm)
- Spider button – 2
- Optional – hot glue gun, craft cutter (to remove the shanks)
- Sewing needle, sewing threads
- Tapestry needle

Instructions:
This pincushion consists of a bottom and a top part. The top part is embellished with spider web and spider buttons.
Note: The bottom and top parts are worked in continuous rounds. Use stitch marker to mark first stitch of each round.

Bottom part
With medium weight #4 yarn and crochet hook 7/4.5 mm, make magic ring;
Round 1. Ch 1, 6 SC in magic ring. Total – 6 SC.
Round 2. 2 SC in each St around. Total – 12 SC.
Round 3. [2 SC in first St, SC in next St] 6 times. Total – 18 SC.
Round 4. SC in first, [2 SC in next St, SC in each of next 2 Sts] 5 times, 2 SC in next St, SC in next St. Total – 24 Sts.
Round 5. [2 SC in first St, SC in each of next 3 Sts] 6 times. Total – 30 Sts.
Round 6. SC in first St and in next St, [2 SC in next St, SC in each of next 4 Sts] 5 times, 2 SC in next St, SC in each of next 2 Sts. Total – 36 Sts.
Round 7. [2 SC in first St, SC in each of next 5 Sts] 6 times. Total – 42 Sts.
Round 8. SC in first St and in each of next 2 Sts, [2 SC in next St, SC in each of next 6 Sts] 5 times, 2 SC in next St, SC in each of next 3 Sts. Total – 48 Sts.
Round 9. BLO: SC in each St around. Total – 48 Sts.

With medium weight #4 yarn and crochet hook 7/4.5 mm, make magic ring;
Round 1. Ch 1, 6 SC in magic ring. Total – 6 SC.

Round 3. [2 SC in first St, SC in next St] 6 times. Total – 18 SC.

Round 5. [2 SC in first St, SC in each of next 3 Sts] 6 times. Total – 30 Sts.

Spider Web
With crochet cotton thread size #10 and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm, Ch 5, join with Sl St to first Ch to form a ring;
Round 1. Ch 3 (counts as DC), 14 DC in ring, join with Sl St to top of Ch 3. Total – 15 DC.
Round 2. Ch 5 (count as DC + Ch 2), [DC in next St, Ch 2] – repeat around, join with Sl St to 3rd Ch of Ch 5 at the beginning. Total – 15 DC.
Round 3. Ch 8 (count as TR + Ch 4), [TR in next St, Ch 4] – repeat around, join with Sl St to 4th Ch of Ch 8 at the beginning. Total – 15 TR.
Round 4. Ch 10 (count as TR + Ch 6), [TR in next St, Ch 6] – repeat around, join with Sl St to 4th Ch of Ch 10 at the beginning. Total – 15 TR. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Assembling
1. Cut out of piece of the cardboard a circle slightly smaller than diameter of the bottom.
2. Put weighted material into a small ziploc bag.
3. Place a cardboard circle inside the pincushion, and then add weighted material. Add some poly-fil stuffing.
4. With the side part of the pincushion facing you, hold the side and top parts together and single crochet around. Leave about 2” open, finish stuffing, and single crochet to close. Weave in the ends.
Finishing
Using a sewing needle and matching thread, sew a spider web onto the pincushion. Then, attach spider buttons by either sewing or gluing them on.
