I made these crochet collar and headband for our dog Lucy to dress her up for her birthday. She is an adorable Golden Retriever and the inspiration for my website’s name.
These dog accessories will make a beautiful photo prop for any celebration with your four-legged friend.

This crochet dog collar and headband set also will make a wonderful gift for other pet lovers in your life! It is easy to make and is a wonderful project for beginners.
Although I made these crochet pet accessories for a large sized dog, the pattern can be easily adapted to any size. The cute headband can also be worn 2 ways – as a headband or as a collar.
If your dog doesn’t like to wear anything on their head, the headband can be worn around your dog’s neck as a collar.
I love to crochet for our Lucy and have already made for her a pink bandana, a bandana for Halloween, and a scarf for Christmas!
Also, I designed a crochet heart Paw Print applique that can be used for the embellishment of various pet items.

Headband
With yellow, Ch 6;
Row 1. SC in 2nd Ch from the hook and in each of next 4 Chs – total 5 SC. Turn.
Row 2. Work in BLO. Ch 1, SC in each St across – total 5 SC. Turn.
Repeat Row 2 until you reach the desired size of your headband. (I made 46 rows.)
Join the ends, using one of the methods:
- Do not cut off yarn, working in BLO of last Row, join both ends together by slip stitching across – total 5 Sl Sts, or
- Cut off the yarn leaving about 10” tail and join two ends with a tapestry needle.
This headband can also be worn as a collar.
Flower – make 2
With yellow, make a magic ring.
Rnd 1. Ch 1, 10 SC in ring, join in top of 1st SC. Fasten off.
Rnd 2. Join red color to first St of Rnd 1, *Ch 4, 3 TR in same St, Ch 4, Sl St in same St, skip next, Sl St in next*, repeat from * to * 4 more times – total 5 petals. Fasten off.
Collar
With yellow, Ch 8;
Row 1. SC in 2nd Ch and in each of 6 next – total 7 SC. Turn
Row 2. Work inBLO. Ch 1, SC in each St across – total 7 SC. Turn.
Repeat Row 2 until you reach the desired size of your collar. (I made 62 Rows.)
After the last Row – do not turn. We will be working along the long edge.
Row 1. Ch 1, SC across the edge working one stitch per row. (In my case – 62 SC). Turn.
Row 2. Ch 3, 2 DC in first St, 3 DC in each St across to last St, 2 DC in last St, Ch 3, Sl St in last St. Do not turn. We will be making button loop.
Continue working along short side – Sl St in each of next 2 Sts, Ch 6 for the button loop (the number of chains depends on the button size), skip 3 Sts, Sl St in next. Fasten off.
Row 4. Join red color to first Ch 3 of the previous Row, Ch 1, SC in each St across. Fasten off.
Finishing:
Sew flowers on the headband and on the collar (when you will be attaching the flower, make a couple of stitches through the center and through the petals as well as they have a tendency to curl up). Sew on button.
I hope you enjoyed this dog collar and headband free crochet pattern!
Happy Crocheting!
