This adorable Christmas crochet dog scarf will make your furry friend look festive and extremely cute! I made this Christmas Candy Cane scarf for our Golden Retriever Lucy, who looks very attractive in it.

The red and white colors are very flattering to Lucy’s beautiful golden fur. When I look at her pictures, it is so funny for me to see her face expression. She takes her photo model job really seriously!
I found that crocheting for pets is really fun. Years ago I would never think that one day I would be crocheting for a dog. But dogs know how to steal our hearts and so we do for them things that we never imagined we might otherwise do.
After I made a pink dog bandana, Lucy received a huge number of compliments. I made another bandana for her for Halloween, and she wore it on a couple of scenic hikes through trees with beautiful Fall colors.
Now she has her own Christmas crochet dog scarf to try out over the next month!
And you may also like this cute crochet Christmas dog stocking.
Lucy really likes to wear her crochet bandanas which I made for her. She never chews on them or tries to pull them off. As with me, she doesn’t wear her accessories all the time.
I dress her up only for some short periods of time when we are going for a walk or when we have friends over.
This crochet Candy Cane dog scarf is made in red and white diagonal stripes and has asymmetrical ends.
You can easily make this scarf longer or shorter by increasing or decreasing the number of repeat rows.
The scarf has also two buttons and is embellished with a tassel.

How big is Lucy? My daughter has a male golden who’s about 80-85 lbs. Just wondering if I need to make this a bit bigger to fit him.
Thanks!
GoldenLucyCrafts says
Lucy is about 62 pounds. Yes, you probably need to make the scarf a little bit longer.

Beautiful pattern. We have used hanky’s for many years but this is so much better. Our dogs get so excited when they wear something special. Thanks.

I am having nothing but trouble, it seems so out of “shape” starting with row 14…..maybe the edging covers up the uneven edges????? Going to try for the 4th time…..🤞🤞🤞🤞 This is sooooo cute that I can’t give up!!!
GoldenLucyCrafts says
Here is the Row 14: Skip 1st, SC in each of next 17, 2 SC in last – 19 SC. Ch 1 and turn. Can you tell me where exactly you a having a problem?
Mollie Crie says
Thank you for such an easy to follow pattern! My daughter found it in on Pinterest and asked me to make a festive collar for my grand dog, Dottie. Dottie is on the faculty at the high school as a therapy dog in the counseling office with my daughter. She is a gorgeous English Cream Golden Retriever. She helps many students through rough spots during the school day and makes cameo appearances in the drama productions! She is looking great this season, thanks to you!

Amazing pattern! How do you adjust the width? My sister’s dog is a big boy and I need to make the width bigger so it’s proportional to his body.
GoldenLucyCrafts says
You will need to repeat Row 12 until you reach the width you like. Then follow the pattern.
