We have a beautiful hydrangea bush in our backyard that blooms in summer and fall with large, incredible blue flowers (you can find the picture at the end of this post).
For years, I have been telling myself that I need to replicate this beauty with my crochet hook. Finally, I did it, and in this post, I will share the crochet pattern for the delicate hydrangea flower.

Start with a magic ring,
Round 1. (Ch 3, DC2tog in ring, Ch 3, Sl St in ring) – 4 times. Close the ring, but do not tighten it up. You will need to be able to insert the hook into the ring when working on next round.
Round 2. (Ch 3, SC in top DC2tog, Ch 2, SC in same, Ch 3, Sl St in ring) – 4 times. Fasten off and weave in the end.
Center: cut two pieces of thread about 6” long, hold them together and make a knot in the middle; bring the thread ends to the back side through the center of the flower leaving the knot on the front. Close the magic ring tightly and secure it. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
As an alternative, you can also use tiny seed bead for the flower center.
