For this crochet garland, I’ve used two previously designed patterns – the crochet heart snowflake and crochet heart applique. You will be able to find all links in the Patterns I used section below.
The snowflake I used for my garland is a beautiful romantic design. It has a heart in its center making it perfect for Valentine’s Day!
I made my garland in red and pink colors. Besides Valentine’s Day, this garland would be great for winter birthdays and weddings decorations.
Garlands are easy to make and perfect to add handmade décor to your home for the holidays.

How to Make Heart Snowflakes Garland for Valentine’s Day
Materials I used:
Aunt Lydia’s crochet cotton threads size 10, Victory red
Aunt Lydia’s crochet cotton threads size 10, French rose
Crochet hook size 1.8 mm
Also, I used 1-inch craft clothespins.
Patterns I used:
For this crochet Valentine’s Day garland I used the following patterns, which are available on this website for free:
These patterns are also available as a print-friendly, styled and advertisement-free PDF file. You can get them from my Etsy Shop: Heart Snowflake is HERE, Hearts are HERE.
Directions:
- Make snowflakes and hearts. Do not cut off the heart ends, make a hanging loop as for the ornament. Block all the pieces.
For my garland, I’ve made five snowflakes (three in red and two in pink) and six hearts (three of each color).
You can always make your garland shorter or longer and adjust the number of pieces as needed.
2. Making a garland.
You have a couple of options on how to make the garland. You can crochet a chain and join each piece evenly as you go with a slip stitch.
Also, you can crochet a chain first and then carefully sew each piece to the chain.
Or you can use small 1-inch crafts clothespins to hang pieces on as I did.
The length of the chain depends on how long you want your garland to be. Leave about 5-7 inches on each end for tying the garland, then arrange the pieces.
Now your garland is done!
I hope you enjoyed this crochet Valentine’s Day garland idea!
Happy Crocheting!
