This pattern is for a cute crochet Watermelon slice, and it can be used as an applique or as a coaster. You can also crochet a bunch of these watermelon slices and make an adorable watermelon garland!
The crochet watermelon applique is made with light weight cotton yarn and for the watermelon coaster, I used medium weight yarn. And I couldn’t resist taking a couple of bites from my watermelon slice!

While growing up in Ukraine, watermelons were available only during their season which is August. We couldn’t wait until we would be able to eat this sweet and amazing fruit. Since childhood, the month of August will always be associated with watermelons for me.
So, this August I start with a new design – a crochet Watermelon. I didn’t add any seeds to my crochet watermelon, instead, it has eyes and a smile! If you feel like adding seeds, you can just embroider them with black color yarn.

Happy Crocheting!
That is so cute, especially with the little bite taken out!
Are you counting the chain one as a stitch? I’m new at crocheting anything other than blankets and granny square things! I’m having a hard time getting the bite marks to come out right??
Thank you for any help you can give!
Jean Dingmon
Hi Jean,
No, Chain 1 doesn’t count as a stitch.
Can you tell me where exactly you are having problems with bite marks?
I’ve been crocheting for 30 years and this pattern just wouldn’t come out right, the bitemarks were hopeless. I don’t think it was me. I think it was the pattern.
