How to Make a Watermelon Gnome
For this watermelon gnome, you will need to crochet a gnome and then embellish your gnome with watermelon craft buttons.
This crochet watermelon gnome is about 5” tall.
1. Make a gnome.
Materials I used:
Medium weight #4 yarn in red, white, and green colors (I used Red Heart yarn)
Crochet hook US size H/5 mm
Decorative buttons: I like to purchase my buttons on Etsy. Here are the buttons I used:
You will also need a sewing needle, matching sewing threads, a hot glue gun, and a craft cutter to remove the shanks.
The pattern I used:
For my gnome I used my previously designed gnome pattern. The pattern is free on this website and can be found here: crochet Valentine’s Day Gnome.
This pattern is also available as a print-friendly, styled and advertisement-free PDF files. You can get them from my Etsy shop here: Gnome crochet pattern.
A video tutorial for this heart gnome is available on my YouTube channel HERE.
2. Embellish your gnome with buttons. You can use buttons of your choice and embellish your gnome in your way.
If your buttons have shanks, you will need to cut the shanks off. Use a hot glue gun to attach the buttons.
