The wings of these cute tiny crochet Butterflies are made in the shape of little hearts. This Butterfly free crochet pattern is another addition to my series of Heart Shaped Appliques.

These crochet Butterflies will be perfect for handmade cards. You can use them for any clothes embellishment, scrapbooking, etc. Also, you can use them to decorate a hairpin, keychain or anything you can think about.
For my crochet Butterfly, I’ve used the same pattern as for the Crochet Mini Heart Bow. You just need to make antennae and you will have a Butterfly! This is a very quick and easy project.

Abbreviations:

Ch(Chs) – chain (chains)
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
SC – single crochet
Sl St – slip stitch
St(Sts) – stitch (stitches)

Instructions:
Wings
Ch 5,
Working under one loop of Chain, SC into the second chain from hook and into each of next 2 Chs,
First Heart: all next Sts work into next (last) Ch and under two loops of Chain – 3 HDC, 3 DC Ch 3, Sl St, Ch 3, 3 DC, 3 HDC.
Now you are working under two loop on the opposite side of the Chain: SC into each of next 2 Chs,
Second Heart: all next Sts work into next (last) Ch and under 2 loops – 3 HDC, 3 DC Ch 3, Sl St, Ch 3, 3 DC, 3 HDC, Sl St into next St.
Fasten off and weave in the ends. If you have a small holes in the center of the hearts, close them while fastening off the ends.
Body
Thread black color crochet thread into the needle, make a little knot on the end and bring the needle through the center from the back of the bow to the front.
Wrap it around 8-10 times. Secure and weave in the end.
Antennae
With black color: Ch 4, working under 2-3 strands of the Butterfly’s body – Sl St into a spot between wings, Ch 4, cut the yarn leaving a small tail, draw tail through the loop and pull tight.
Trim tails of antennae.
