Where we live, there is each June a Festival of Balloons. Each year, my entire family gets up at 4:00 AM and makes our way to the local park to see the pilots and their crews inflate the hot air balloons and then float off into the early morning sky.
At the end of this post, you can find a picture of the hot air balloons I took at the festival.
They fly very early because they need to fly when the winds are calm. Also, since they rely on hot air for lift, they are more efficient flying when the air is cool as in the early morning.
Seeing these beautiful balloons rise away slowly and majestically inspired me to create my first Hot Air Balloon applique pattern. Then I designed these small Heart Balloons which are perfect for handmade cards!
Like all of my heart-shaped creations, this Heart Air Balloon applique is easy to make – you just need to crochet a Heart and a Basket.
If you want, you can embellish your Heart-balloon with tiny heart-shaped buttons.
This crochet Heart Air Balloon applique also continues my series of heart shaped creations and DIY card ideas.
