Finished Size:
Crochet Watering Can applique is about 2″ tall.
Crochet Heart Flower is about 3″ tall.
Yarn:
For the Watering Can and Flowers, I used light weight #3 Patons Grace cotton yarn.
For the small Hearts, I used Aunt Lydia’s crochet cotton size 10

Crochet Watering Can
With light weight #3 cotton yarn and crochet hook C/2.75 mm, Ch 4.
Rnd 1. Make all of the next stitches into the 4th Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, HDC + DC in first St, 3 TR in next St, 2 DC in next St, HDC in each of next 3 Sts, HDC in Ch 1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), Ch 1, DC in next St (Heart point),
Ch 1, HDC in Ch 1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), HDC in each of next 3 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 TR in next St, DC + HDC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 3. Ch 3, SC in first St, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in each of the next 2 Sts,
making the Nose – Ch 9; working under 2 loops, make all of the following Sts in 3rd Ch from the hook – (HDC + SC + HDC), Ch 3, Sl St in same Ch; Sl St in each of next 2 Chs, SC in each of next 2 Chs, HDC in next Ch, 2 HDC in next Ch;
SC in next St of Rnd 2 and in each of next 3, SC into Ch-1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), Ch 1, DC in next St (Heart point),
Ch 1, SC into Ch-1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), SC in each of the next 6 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 2 Sts, SC in next,
making the Handle – Ch 8 (this will make Ch-8 arch), skip 4 Sts back and Sl St in 5th St, make 10 SC in Ch-8 arch, SC in same St where your Handle started;
2 SC in next St, SC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Fasten off.
If you have a small hole in the center, close it while fastening off the beginning end.
Heart Flower
With light weight #3 cotton yarn and crochet hook C/2.75 mm, Ch 4.
Rnd 1. Make all of the next stitches into the 4th Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, Sl St in first St, *Ch 1, Sl St in next – repeat from * around, Ch 3, Sl St in center. Fasten off.
Stem – join green color to the heart point, Ch 15, fasten off.
Hearts – Waterdrops
Make crochet Small Hearts for Waterdrops (see also Instructions for the crochet Heart appliques)
With red crochet cotton threads size 10 and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm, Ch 4.
Rnd 1. Make all of the next stitches into the 4th Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St in center. Fasten off.

How to sew applique on – using a sewing needle and matching thread, stitch the applique around the perimeter, then make a couple of stitches in the middle of the applique to make it lay flat.
