This crochet Snail is easy to make and you can use it for any embellishment, scrapbooking or card making!

I live in rainy Oregon, where there are lots of snails and slugs (maybe I will make crochet Slug one day? Who knows?). They are crawling around and eating our plants! But I find snails are very cute especially like this tiny one:

Ch – chain
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
Rnd – round
RS – right side
SC- single crochet
Sl St – slip stitch
St (Sts) – stitch (stitches)
TR – treble crochet
WS – wrong side
Crochet Snail is about 2-1/4” (7 cm) long.
- Patons Grace, sport weight #2 yarn (100% mercerized cotton; 136 yds/124 m per 1.7 oz/50 g skein), colors – A for the Shell and B – for the Body.
- Crochet hook 1/2.75 mm
- Embroidery floss

- The Shell
Using color A, make a Large Heart for the Shell (I used a pattern for the large heart from Crochet Hearts Appliques). Mark RS of the Heart.
Rnd 1. Make all of the next stitches into the fourth Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, in top of first St of previous Rnd make HDC and DC, 3 TR in next St, 2 DC in next St, HDC into each of next 3 Sts, HDC into Ch-1 stitch, Ch 1, DC in next St (Heart point), Ch 1, HDC into Ch-1 stitch, HDC into each of next 3 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 TR in next St, DC and HDC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 3. Ch 3, SC in top of first St of previous Rnd, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, then SC in each of the next 7 Sts, Ch 1, DC in next St (Heart point), Ch 1, SC in each of the next 7 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center, Ch 1.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
- The Body
Row 1. With Heart WS facing you, join color B to Heart point.
Ch 1, SC in each of next 11 Sts, 2 SC in next 2 Sts, turn.
Row 2. Tentacles: *Ch 4, Sl St in 2nd Ch and in 2 next Chs*, repeat from * to * one more time for the second tentacle.
Next Sts make in last SC of Row 1 – DC, 2 TR, DC; HDC in next St, SC in each of next 2 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 3 Sts, SC in each of next 8 Sts, Ch 5, Sl St in 2nd Ch and in next Ch, SC in next Ch, skip next Ch, Sl St in Heart point St.
3. Embroider the Eye.
You can add to you crochet Snail these small crochet hearts.
You can give your Snail heart balloons.
Or, you can give your Snail a crochet heart Bow.
