Crochet Slug Applique

I designed this cute crochet Slug applique for the Valentine’s Day card “Slugs and Kisses”. Besides Valentine’s Day, you can use them for any other occasion to express your love in a fun way. This crochet slug applique is easy to make and requires only a very small amount of yarn.

• Crochet hook 6/1.8 mm
• Sticky back googly eyes
• Yarn needle
• Sewing needle
• Sewing thread
• Micro red hearts buttons

Left Slug

With crochet hook 7/4.5 mm and medium weight #4 cotton yarn, Ch 17;

Sl St in 2^nd Ch and in each of next 2, SC in each of next 5, HDC in each of next 3, 2 HDC in each of next 2, HDC in each of next 2, 2 HDC in next (last) Ch,

first tentacle – *Ch 5, HDC in 3^rd Ch, Ch 1, Sl St in same 3^rd Ch, Sl St in each of next 2 Chs*, HDC in same (last) Ch,

second tentacle – repeat from * to * one time, 2 HDC in same (last) Ch, continue working on opposite side of Chain: SC in each of next 3, skip 1, SC in each of next 5, Sl St in each of next 6. Fasten off.

Right Slug

With crochet hook 7/4.5 mm and medium weight #4 cotton yarn, Ch 17;

Sl St in 2^nd Ch and in each of next 5, SC in each of next 5, skip 1, SC in each of next 3, 2 HDC in next (last) Ch,

first tentacle – *Ch 5, HDC in 3^rd Ch, Ch 1, Sl St in same 3^rd Ch, Sl St in each of next 2 Chs*, HDC in same (last) Ch,

second tentacle – repeat from * to * one time, 2 HDC in same (last) Ch, continue working on opposite side of Chain: HDC in each of next 2, 2 HDC in each of next 2, HDC in each of next 3, SC in each of next 5, Sl St in each of next 3. Fasten off.

Finishing:

Block your slug appliques as necessary. Attach googly eyes, sew small heart buttons on.
