This Love Locks crochet pattern is another addition to my series of heart-shaped designs.
It features two interlocked heart-shaped locks, making it a beautiful ornament, gift, or decoration for occasions like Valentine’s Day, weddings, birthdays, or simply as a sweet surprise for someone special.

The inspiration for these crochet love locks came from a family trip to Astoria, Oregon, where we discovered love locks on Pier 39.

Abbreviations:
Ch – chain
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
RS – right side
SC – single crochet
Sl St – slip stitch

The lock is about 2.5” tall
Yarn:
- Crochet thread size #3 or crochet light-weight #3 yarn. I used Knit Picks Curio cotton thread #3. Colors – red, grey
- Aunt Lydia’s crochet cotton thread size #10, color – black
Hook and other materials:
- Crochet hook 1/2.75 mm
- Crochet hook 6/1.8 mm
- Stitch markers
- Sewing needle
- Black sewing thread
- Tapestry needle

Heart – make 2
Use light weight #3 yarn in red color and crochet hook 1/2.75 mm.
Ch 4;
Round 1. Make all of the next stitches into the fourth Ch from hook and working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC; Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Round 2. Ch 3, (HDC + DC) in first St, 3 DC in next St, 2 DC in next St, HDC in each of next 3 Sts, HDC in Ch-1 sp, Ch 1, DC in next St (Heart point), Ch 1, HDC in Ch-1 sp, HDC in each of next 3 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 DC in next St, (DC + HDC) in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Round 3. Ch 3, SC in first St, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in each of the next 6 Sts, SC in Ch-1 sp, Ch 1, DC in next St (Heart point), Ch 1, SC in Ch-1 sp, SC in each of the next 6 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center. Fasten off and weave in the ends. Side facing you is RS.
Mark second St and last St of the round 3. Flip the heart so the WS is facing you.
Shackle
Use light weight #3 yarn in grey and crochet hook 1/2.75 mm.
First heart. With the heart WS facing you, join the grey color to the marked second St of round 3 (it will be on your right);
Ch 20, SC into marked last St of the round 3, SC in next St of round 3,
turn your work so that the right side is facing; working into the back bump of the chain, Sl St in each chain to the end, Sl St in same St of the heart where you joined. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Second heart. With the heart WS facing you, join the grey color to the marked second St of round 3 (it will be on your right);
Ch 20, remove the hook from the chain and draw the chain with working yarn through the shackle of the first heart;
reinsert the hook back into the chain, SC into marked last St of the round 3, SC in next St of round 3,
turn your work so that the right side is facing you; working into the back bump of the chain, Sl St in each chain to the end, Sl St in same St of the heart where you joined. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Keyhole – make 2
Use crochet cotton thread #10 in black and crochet hook 6/1.8 mm.
Make magic ring, Ch 1, 7 SC in ring,
Ch 5, SC in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next Ch, Sl St in next 2 Chs, Sl St in same St where you started Ch 5. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Finishing
Using a sewing needle and a sewing thread, sew keyholes onto the hearts.
Block your applique.
