Eyes
You have multiple options to make eyes for your Tiger applique. You can use googly eyes, buttons or crochet the eyes (see instructions below). For babies and small children items – use crocheted eyes.
Crocheted Eye – make two
Materials:
- light weight #3 cotton yarn, color – black (I used Patons Grace cotton yarn)
- crochet hook size 2.75 mm
- white embroidery floss
- embroidery needle
Instructions:
With black yarn, make magic ring.
Rnd 1. Ch 1, 6 SC in ring, join with Sl St. Fasten off.
With white embroidery floss, make a couple of stitches for a spark.
Finishing:
Sew the snout on the head. Embroider the nose, whiskers, and stripes. Block your applique as necessary. Sew on crocheted eyes or attach googly eyes.
As an example I made my Tiger applique with two different yarn weights. The smaller applique is made with light weight yarn (I used Patons Grace cotton yarn, colors – Fiesta and Natural). A larger applique is made with medium #4 weight yarn.

Thank you so much for the beautiful animal patterns. My plan is to crochet a child’s blanket using individual crochet squares with each animal. I am now in my 80s and would like to crochet one for my future great grandchild. I have enjoyed using many of your patterns in the past.
