Crochet Heart Flowers – Free Crochet Pattern

To make this Crochet Flower, you will need 5 or 6 Medium Hearts for the flower petals, 1 or 2 Small Hearts for the leaves.
Also, you will need to make a Flower Center and Stem.
Abbreviations:
Ch – chain
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
Rnd – round
SC- single crochet
Sl St – slip stitch
St (Sts) – stitch (stitches)
Finished size:
Materials:
- cotton crochet thread size 10, colors of your choice
- crochet hook size 4/2 mm

Instructions:
Small Heart
Small Heart is about 5/8”.
Ch 4;
Make all of the next stitches into the fourth Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Medium Heart
Medium Heart is about 3/4”.
Ch 4;
Rnd 1. Make all of the next stitches into the fourth Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, SC into first St of previous Row, 2 SC into each of next 2 Sts, SC into each of next 3 Sts, SC in Ch 1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), Ch 1, DC into next St (Heart point), Ch 1, SC in Ch 1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), SC into each of next 3 Sts, 2 SC into each of next 2 Sts, SC into next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Flower Center
You can make the flower center as a circle or as a heart.
For the heart center make a Medium Heart in the desired color.
For the round center:
Make an adjustable ring,
Rnd 1. Ch 2, 12 HDC into the ring, join with Sl St,
Rnd 2. Ch 2, HDC into the same place as Ch 2,* HDC into next St, 2 HDC into next St*, repeat from * to * around, join with Sl St,
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
From the back side, sew hearts together in the shape of a flower.
Stem
Ch 33 (you can make it shorter or longer as you desire),
Row 1. Sl St into 2nd Ch from the hook and into each next Ch to the end.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Finishing
Sew leaves to the stem, sew stem to the flower. Block your applique as necessary.
