Ch – chain
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet
Rnd – round
SC- single crochet
Sl St – slip stitch

5-HDC Puff St – 5 half double crochet puff stitch
Materials:
- cotton medium weight yarn Sugar’n Cream, colors – white

- cotton crochet thread size 10, colors – pink

- crochet hook size H/8 – 5 mm
- crochet hook size E/4 – 3.5 mm
- crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm

Face
With white cotton medium weight yarn and hook size H/8 – 5 mm, Ch 4;
Rnd 1. Working under both loops, make all of the next stitches into the 4th Ch from hook (the first Ch made) – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC; Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, HDC+DC in first St, 3 TR in next St, 2 DC in next St, DC into each of next 3 Sts, HDC in Ch 1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), (DC+TR+DC) in next St (Heart point), HDC in Ch 1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), DC into each of next 3 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 TR in next St, DC + HDC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 3. Ch 3, SC in top of first St of previous round, 2 SC in next St;
making first Ear – Ch 6, SC in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next Ch, HDC in each of next 3 Chs;
SC in next St of the Rnd 2, 2 SC in each of next 3 Sts, then SC in each of the next 6 Sts, (DC+TR+DC) in next St (Heart point), SC in each of the next 6 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 3 Sts, SC in next;
making second Ear – Ch 6, SC in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next Ch, HDC in each of next 3 Chs;
2 SC in next St, SC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Fasten off and weave in the ends. If you have a small hole in the center, close it while fastening off the beginning end.
Horn
With yellow cotton medium weight yarn and hook size H/8 – 5 mm, Ch 10;
Row 1. SC in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next Ch, HDC in each of next 3 Chs, DC in each of next 4 Chs.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Muzzle
With light pink cotton light weight yarn and hook size E/4(3.5 mm), Ch 6;
Rnd 1. DC in 4th Ch from hook, DC in next Ch, 6 DC in next Ch, now working on opposite side of Ch- DC in next Ch, 4 DC in next (last Ch), join with Sl St.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Flower – make 3
Note: How to make Puff St (5-HDC Puff Stitch) = Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch. Yarn over again and draw up loop. There will be three loops on the hook. Repeat four more times. Each time adds 2 more loops to the hook. There will be 11 loops on the hook. Yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. You have one loop on hook, Ch 1 to secure the Puff St.
With cotton crochet thread size 10 and hook size 1.8 mm, Ch 5, join to form a ring. Make sure you leave beginning tail about 6-8” long to sew beads.
Rnd 1. Ch 1, 9 SC into ring, join with Sl St into first SC.
Rnd 2. *(Ch 3, Puff St, Ch 3, Sl St) – into same St, skip next St, Sl St into next St*, repeat from * to * 4 more times, but last time don’t skip St. You should have made 5 petals.
Using the end from the centers, sew bead in the center of the flower.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Finishing
Sew Horn, Muzzle and Flowers on the Unicorn’s face.
With black yarn (or embroidery floss) embroider the Eyes.
