
This Happy Face crochet pattern is number five in my second series of six crochet heart-shaped faces. This face has closed eyes, rosy cheeks, and a smile. It is also known as the Smiling Face. The Happy Face is usually used to express happiness, love, and any positive feelings.

All of my faces have heart-shaped faces, which makes them perfect for Valentine’s Day. You can make them for kids, friends, spouses, or coworkers. You can also use them for home decoration or simply as appliques.

Finished Size:
This Happy Face is about 3-1/4″ (8 cm).

- crochet hook H/8-5.00 mm
- cotton crochet thread size 10, color – black
- cotton crochet thread size 10, color – french rose
- crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm

1. With yellow worsted medium weight #4 yarn and crochet hook H/8-5.00 mm, make a Large Heart for the face (see Instructions for the Heart-Eyes Crochet Face).
2. Make Closed Eyes
Closed Eye – make 2
With black crochet thread size 10 and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm, Ch 8;
Row 1. Working in back ridge of the Chain – Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in each of next 2 Chs, 2 SC in next Ch, SC in each of next 2 Chs, Sl St in last Ch. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

3. Make a Smile.
Smile
With black cotton crochet thread size 10 and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm, Ch 10;
Row 1. Working in back ridge of the Chain – Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in next Ch, SC in each of next 2 Chs, 2 SC in next Ch, SC in each of next 2 Chs, Sl St in next and in last Ch. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
4. Make Cheeks
Cheek – make 2
With pink cotton crochet thread size 10 and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm, make an adjustable ring.
Rnd 1. Ch 3, 12 DC into the ring, draw the loop closed. To make it easier to do, first, untwist the tail. Then pull the tail to draw the loop tightly closed. Join with Sl St in top of Ch 3. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Finishing
Sew Eyes, a Smile, and Cheeks onto the Face.
