I made this crochet garland from heart-shaped smiley faces to decorate my son’s room for Valentine’s Day. Since children love smiley faces, this garland is perfect for a child’s birthday or party decorations.

The faces that I used for this garland have heart shaped instead of traditional round faces. This makes them especially perfect for Valentine’s Day!

For your garland, you can use a variety of faces as I did, you can use only a couple of them or just one favorite if you like.

For the faces I used medium weight #4 yarn, and the face’s elements are made from crochet cotton thread size 10.

Directions:
1. Make all the pieces.
For my garland, I’ve used nine faces. You can always make your garland shorter or longer and adjust the number of pieces as needed.
2. Making a garland.
You have a couple of options on how to make this crochet garland. You can crochet a chain and join each piece to the chain as you go with a slip stitch evenly.
You can also crochet a chain first and then carefully sew each piece to the string.
Also, you can use small 1-inch craft clothespins to hang each face as I did.
The length of the chain depends on how long you want your garland to be. Leave on each end about 5-7 inches for tying the garland, then arrange the pieces.
