This simple clear glass Christmas ornament will be a perfect gift for anyone who loves to crochet! It is a clear ball ornament with a crochet hook, some crochet project, and a tiny ball of yarn inside.
This Christmas ornament for crocheters was inspired by the idea of Christmas Ornaments for knitters. If you like to knit as well – make both ornaments!

How to Make Clear Ball Christmas Ornament – Gift for Crocheters

Materials:
Clear plastic ball ornaments. I used ornaments about 2-1/2” in diameter.
Aluminum crochet hooks
Some yarn or crochet thread
Hot glue gun
Sequins, sparkles, beads, snowflakes confetti, etc.
Wire clipper
Safety glasses
Here are two samples of crochet-themed Christmas ornaments I made.
Directions:
1.Crochet a small swatch with your favorite yarn, I don’t recommend using bulky yarn. Or, crochet any small size shape or appliqué that you like. For the swatch use a crochet stitch of your choice.
My first ornament used a crochet swatch I made with Star Stitch and medium weight worsted yarn. The size of the swatch is about 2” x 1/5”.
For the second ornament, I made a tiny snowflake with size 10 crochet cotton thread.
When you make your crochet piece, don’t finish it off – leave the last stitch unfinished. Also, leave a long tail to make a tiny ball of yarn.
When making a yarn ball, make sure that it will go through the opening of the ornament. When your yarn ball is done, use a small drop of hot glue on the yarn ball to secure the yarn. Otherwise, the ball will unravel.
2. Make a short crochet hook to put inside of the ornament.
The length of the hook should be slightly shorter than the diameter of your ornament (about 1/8-1/4” shorter).
Use an aluminum hook of small size (I’ve used hook size 2.25 mm) as it is easier to cut.
Put on safety glasses and with a wire clipper clip the hook to the desired length. I asked my husband to do that for me. Also, he filed the clipped end of the hook as it was very sharp.
3. Assembly. Insert your hook into the last unfinished stitch of your crochet swatch and put them inside the ornament.
Add sequins, sparkles, beads, a piece of plastic Christmas tree, or anything that your creative mind may want you to use.
Arrange the hook and crochet piece inside of the ornament with a straight knitting needle or just shake it and see how it arranges by itself!
Attach hanging string and hang your ornament on the Christmas tree or give it to a friend who loves to crochet!
I hope you enjoyed this DIY clear ball crochet-themed Christmas ornament!
Happy Crocheting!
