This crochet Christmas Pudding ornament is about 3” (without hanging loop)
Yarn:
Medium weight #4 yarn, colors – chocolate (A), white (B).
I used Impeccable by Loops and Threads yarn, chocolate, and Red Heart Soft yarn, white.
Hook and other materials:
- Crochet hook H/8 – 5 mm
- Holly Berry buttons
Instructions:
My Christmas Pudding ornament consists of two parts – a chocolate heart and white frosting.
So, you will need to make a heart and a frosting, and then, sew them together.
Finishing thought – embellish your ornament with a holly berry button.
Heart

With Color A, Ch 4;
Rnd 1. Make all of the next stitches into the fourth Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 4 HDC, DC (Heart point), 4 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, HDC + DC in first St, 3 TR in next St, 2 DC in next St, HDC in each of next 4 Sts, HDC+DC+HDC in next St (Heart point),
HDC in each of next 4 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 TR in next St, DC + HDC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 3. Ch 3, SC in first St, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in each of the next 7 Sts, HDC+DC+HDC in next St (Heart point), SC in each of the next 7 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Fasten off. Weave in beginning end, save the second one.
Frosting
With Color B, Ch 15 (this is a foundation Chain);
Row 1. SC in 2nd Ch from hook and in each next 13 Chs. Total – 14 SC. Turn.
Row 2. Sl St in 1st, skip next 2 Sts, (TR+6 DC) in next St, skip next 2 Sts, Sl St in each of next 2 Sts, skip next 2 Sts, (6 DC+TR) in next St, Sl St in last St, do not turn.
Row 3. Ch 1, rotate your work clockwise and continue working on opposite side of the foundation Chain:
SC in first, Ch 3, SC in 2nd Ch, HDC in next Ch,
skip next Ch of foundation Ch, Sl St in each of next 2,
Ch 5, HDC in 3rd Ch and in next, DC in next Ch,
skip next Ch of foundation Ch, Sl St in each of next 2,
Ch 3, HDC in 2nd Ch and in next Ch,
skip next Ch of foundation Ch, Sl St in each of next 2,
Ch 6, HDC in 3rd Ch and in next 2, DC in next Ch,
skip next Ch of foundation Ch, Sl St in next,
Ch 3, SC in 2nd Ch, HDC in next Ch,
skip next Ch of foundation Ch, Sl St in last.
Fasten off.
Finishing:
Sew frosting on the heart.
Attach a piece of white yarn (about 5” long) between heart’s scallops.
Using attached white yarn and saved chocolate end, make a loop for hanging the Christmas Pudding on the tree.
Sew on a holly berry button.
