To make this fishbone bookmark, I modified my previously designed pattern for the fishbone crochet applique. My bookmark is about 9” long, but you can adjust the size to whatever you need.

My crochet fishbone bookmark is about 9” long (but you can make it of any length you like)
Yarn:
- Cotton light-weight # 3 yarn or cotton thread size #3. I used Patons Grace 100% cotton light weight #3 yarn.
Hook and other materials:
- Crochet hook C-2.75 mm
- Sticky back googly eyes
- Tapestry needle to weave in ends

Head: Start with magic ring;
Rnd 1. Ch 3, make all of the next Sts into the ring – 3 TR, 4 DC, TR (heart point), DC, Ch 3, Sl St, Ch 3, 2 DC, 3 TR, Ch 3, Sl St;
Continue working on bones and spine:
Ch 8, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in each of next 4,
Ch 8, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in each of next 4,
Ch 50 (or as long as desired),
Tail: Ch 8, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in next; SC in each of next 2, HDC in next, HDC2tog; Ch 7, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in next, SC in each of next 2, HDC in next, 2 HDC in next;
Continue working on opposite side of the spine chain: Sl St in each of next 50 Chs,
Ch 6, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in each of next 4; Sl St in each of next 2 Chs of the spine;
Ch 6, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in each of next 4; Sl St in each of next 2 Chs of the spine. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Finishing:
Block your bookmark; attach a googly eye.
