Pizza Heart Crochet Pattern – You Stole a Pizza My Heart

This crochet heart-shaped Pizza applique will make a nice small gift or can be used as a cute handmade clothes embellishment for those who can’t live without pepperoni pizza! It would be especially fun for kids, or perhaps the “kid” within any pizza loving adult!

My son loves pizza and pepperoni pizza is his favorite. We prefer to make our own pizza at home and my son’s favorite part of the process (besides, of course, eating pizza) is to put toping on it.

So, I made this applique for my son to embellish his t-shirt. Now he is proudly wearing it while helping me with pizza!  

You can use this heart-shaped Pizza applique for holidays, birthdays, any other occasion, or just without any occasion.

Using this Pizza Heart crochet pattern you can also make an ornament for your Christmas tree.

By using this applique for homemade greeting cards, you can make a cute Valentine’s Day card “You stole a pizza my heart” (see picture at the end of this post). And by the way, such a card will be great not only for Valentine’s Day, but also for birthdays.

This Pizza Heart is about 3-1/2”     

Yarn:

• Medium weight #4 yarn. Colors: yellow (Color A), brown (Color B).
• Aunt Lydia’s crochet cotton thread size #10, color – red

Hook and Other Materials:

• Crochet hook H/8 – 5 mm
• Crochet hook 6/1.8 mm
• Sewing needle

Instructions:

To make this Pizza Heart, you will need to crochet a heart and small circles of pepperoni, then sew them on the heart.

Heart

With medium weight yarn Color A and crochet hookH/8 – 5 mm, Ch 4.

Rnd 1. Make all of the next stitches into the fourth Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1,  DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC; Ch 3, Sl St in center.

Rnd 2.  Ch 3, HDC+ DC in first St, 3 TR in next St, 2 DC in next St, HDC into each of next 3 Sts, HDC in Ch 1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), HDC+DC+HDC in next St (Heart point), HDC in Ch 1 (insert hook in Ch stitch under 2 strands, not in Ch-1 space), HDC in each of next 3 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 TR in next St, DC + HDC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.

Rnd 3. Ch 3, SC in first St, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in each of the next 7 Sts, HDC+DC+HDC in next St (Heart point), SC in each of the next 7 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.

Fasten off. For the ornament, cut the yarn leaving about 5” tail.

Rnd 4. Decorative edge. Join Color B into last Sl St of previous Rnd, Ch 1, Sl St in 2^nd Ch of Ch 3 at the beginning of previous Rnd, Ch 1, Sl St in next Ch, *Ch 1, Sl St in next St, repeat from * around to Ch 3 at the end of previous Rnd, Ch 1, Sl St in 1^st Ch, Ch 1, Sl St in next Ch, Ch 1, Sl St into same place where you joined Color B.

Fasten off. For the ornament, cut the yarn leaving about 5” tail.

If you have a small hole in the center, close it while fastening off the beginning end.

Pepperoni

With red crochet cotton thread #10 and crochet hook 6/1.8 mm, make a magic ring,

Rnd 1. Ch 2, 11 HDC into ring. Draw the loop closed. To make it easier to do, first untwist the tail. Then pull the tail from back side to draw the loop closed tightly. Join with Sl St in top of Ch 2.

Fasten off and weave in one end. Leave the second end to be long enough to sew the pepperoni to the pizza heart.

Make as many pepperoni pieces as you would like.

Finishing

Sew pepperoni on the pizza. For the ornament, make a hanging loop.
