This crochet patriotic snow globe is my 8th snow globe. The first original snow globe design is a classic Winter snow globe. It became very popular and also was featured in Country Woman Magazine!
So, I decided to make more snow globes based on other themes. They are a Lilac snow globe, Halloween snow globe, Valentine’s Day snow globe, St. Patrick’s Day snow globe, Graduation snow globe, and Easter snow globe.

SC – single crochet
Sl St – slip stitch
St (Sts) – stitch (stitches)
Skill Level:
Intermediate.
Finished Size:
This crochet patriotic snow globe is about 5” (13 cm) tall.
Yarn:
Medium weight #4 yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver). Color A – blue, Color B – white, Color C – red
Hook and other materials:
- Crochet hook E/4 (3.5 mm)
- Stitch marker
- Large sewing needle
- Poly-fil stuffing
- Piece of cardboard
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Weighted stuffing material (I used Poly Pellets weighted stuffing beads)
- Buttons: white stars 8 mm – about 30, white buttons 13 mm – 3, blue buttons 13 mm – 3. I like to buy buttons on Etsy. My favorite buttons can be found HERE.
Notes:
- Beginning Ch 1 doesn’t count as a St.
- INV JOIN counts as a St.
- The blue part of the globe is worked in continuous rounds. Use stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round.
- Red and white stripes are worked in the non-continuous rounds; every round you will join using INV JOIN technique and then cut the yarn off.
Special Stitch and Technique
- INV DEC (invisible decrease) – put hook through the front loop only of two consecutive stitches. You have three loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through two loops. You have two loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through those two loops.
- INV JOIN (invisible join) – after working the last St of the round, cut the yarn leaving about 4” tail and pull it through. Thread the end into a tapestry needle. Pass the needle under the top of the first stitch of the round, and back through the last stitch inserting the needle in between the top loops. Adjust the tension to produce a perfect join. Weave in the end from wrong side.

Finishing the snow globe
Stuff your snow globe and the base, leave some space at the bottom. Stuff the snow globe well, make sure it has a nice, spherical shape.
Using a sewing needle and saved long tail, start sewing the bottom to the base (don’t forget to insert the cardboard circle inside). Sew about ¾ of the diameter, add more stuffing as necessary. Add weighted material for stability, and finish sewing the bottom.
Your snow globe is now ready for embellishment.
Using a hot glue gun, glue the star buttons to the snow globe.
Congratulations! Your crochet patriotic snow globe is complete!
I hope you enjoyed this Patriotic Snow Globe free crochet pattern!
Happy Crocheting!
