It is November and it is time to get ready for Thanksgiving! To celebrate this American holiday I created this cute crochet heart Turkey applique.
This Turkey pattern is another addition to my heart-shaped patterns collection as its body is made in the shape of a heart.

This cute crochet Turkey applique would be perfect as a Thanksgiving decoration. Use different yarn weights and hook sizes to obtain different sizes for this crochet Turkey.
I’ve made my Turkey with the worsted medium-weight #4 yarn. If you make it with light-weight or sport-weight yarn, you will get a cute small crochet Turkey applique which you can use for the embellishment of various items.

Crochet Turkey is about 5-3/4” tall and 7” wide.

Instructions:
To make this Turkey applique, you will need to crochet a heart-shaped body with legs, feathers, snood, and then sew all parts together.

Body and Legs
With brown color and hook size 5 mm, Ch 4;
Rnd 1. Make all of the next stitches into the fourth Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, HDC and DC in first St, 3 TR in next St, 2 DC in next St, HDC in each of next 3 Sts, HDC in Ch-1 stitch, Ch 1, DC in next St (Heart point), Ch 1, HDC in Ch-1 stitch, HDC in each of next 3 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 TR in next St, DC and HDC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 3. Ch 3, SC in first St, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in each of the next 6 Sts, SC int Ch-1 St,
First Leg. **Ch 6 (3 Chs for the Leg and 3 Chs for the First Toe), First Toe – Sl St in 2nd Ch and in next Ch; Second Toe – *Ch 3, Sl St in 2nd Ch and in next Ch*; Third Toe – repeat from * to *; Sl St in each of 3 Chs of the Leg, SC into same St where Leg was started**,
Ch 1, HDC in next St (heart point), Ch 1, SC in Ch-1 St,
Second Leg. Repeat from ** to **,
SC in each of the next 6 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Fasten off.
Feathers
Make one red, two yellow and two orange.
With worsted weight #4 yarn and crochet hook 5 mm, Ch 9;
Rnd 1. SC in 2nd Ch from the hook, HDC in next Ch, DC in each of next 3 Chs, HDC in each of next 2 Chs, working under 2 loops – 5 SC in last Ch (top).
Working on opposite side of the Ch, HDC in each of next 2 Chs, DC in each of next 3 Chs, HDC in next Ch, SC in next (last )St.
Rnd 2. *Ch 1, Sl St in next St, repeat from * around.
Fasten off.
Snood
With crochet cotton yarn size 3 and hook size 2.75 mm, Ch 9;
Row 1. (2 DC+HDC) in 3rd Ch, HDC in next Ch, SC in next Ch, Sl St in next Ch, 2 SC in next Ch, SC in next Ch, 4 SC in next (last) Ch, continue on the opposite side of Ch – Sl St in 2nd Ch.
Fasten off.
Finishing:
Sew Turkey’s body, snood, and feathers together.
Attach googly eyes.
