Abbreviations:
BL (BLO) – back loop (back loop only)

This crochet Christmas cup cozy is about 3” x 9-1/2” without loop
Yarn:
- Medium weight #4 cotton yarn (I used Sugar’n Cream cotton yarn). Color A – white, Color B – green, Color C – red.
Hook and other materials:
- Crochet hook 4.5 mm
- Tapestry needle
- Wooden button
- Sewing needle
- Sewing thread

Gauge:
13 SC and 12 rows =3”
Notes:
- Entire project is worked RS facing, do NOT turn.
- Crochet over your yarn ends – by crocheting over them as you go, you’ll reduce the number of ends to weave in.
- How to join with Sl St: make a slip knot and take it off the hook,insert the hook in specified stitch and then place a slip knot on the hook, draw the slip knot through the stitch.
- Each row ends by fastening off main color. To fasten off: complete the last St; cut the yarn; YO, draw the tail through the loop on the hook and pull tight.
Special Stitches:
Puff Stitch (Puff)
- [YO, insert hook in the specified stitch, YO and pull up a loop] 3 times in the same stitch – you should have 7 loops on your hook.
- YO and draw through all 7 loops on hook.
- Ch 1 to close Puff.
Standing DC
- Make a slip knot.
- YO, holding loop on hook, insert hook in specified stitch (space).
- YO and pull up a loop (you have 3 loops on hook).
- [YO and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice.

With Color A, Ch 34,
Row 1. Skip 2 Chs (these 2 skipped Chs count as first HDC), HDC in 3rd Ch and in each Ch across. Total – 33 HDC. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Row 2. Join Color B with standing DC into top of first HDC of previous row, DC in same, *skip 1 St, 2 DC in next* across. Total – 34 Sts. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Row 3. Join Color C with standing DC in front post of first DC St of previous row (this is our first FPDC), FPDC in each of next St across. Total – 34 FPDC. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Row 4. BLO. Join Color A with standing SC in BL of first St of previous row, SC in each St across. Total – 34 SC. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Row 5. BLO. Join Color B with standing HDC in BL of first St of previous row, HDC in each St across. Total – 34 HDC. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Row 6. BLO. Join Color C with standing SC in BL of first St of previous row, SC in each St across. Total – 34 SC. Cut yarn and fasten off.
This next row is worked down the first short side with the button loop, then along the long side, and then up the other short side.
Row 7. Start working along first short side (side with button loop): join Color C with Sl St into side of first St of row 1, Ch 1, SC in same place, [2 SC in side of next row-end DC] twice, SC in side of next row-end SC, 2 SC in side of next row-end HDC,
Ch 17 for button loop, skip 5 SC back and Sl St in next St, make 21 SC around Ch 17, SC in side of next row-end SC,
rotate your work and continue working along the long side: Sl St in first St, [Ch 2, Puff in same St, skip next 2 Sts, Sl St in next St] across (you should have 11 Puffs),
rotate your work and continue working along other short side: Ch 1, SC into row-end SC, 2 SC in next row-end HDC, SC into next row-end SC, [2 SC in side of next row-end DC] twice, SC in next row-end SC, Sl St in same place.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Finishing:
Block your cozy as necessary. Sew a wooden button on.
