Just like my other gnomes, these summer gnomes are made from heart shapes, and I embellished them with craft buttons shaped like ice cream, watermelon slices, and sunglasses.

How to Make a Summer Gnome
For this summer gnome, you’ll need to crochet a gnome and then embellish it with summer-themed craft buttons.
Skill Level:
Intermediate
Finished Size:
This gnome is about 4.5” tall
Directions:
1. Make a gnome
Materials:
- Medium weight #4 cotton yarn (I used Knit Picks Dishie medium weight #4 cotton yarn)
- Crochet hook US size 4.5 mm
- Decorative buttons: sunglasses buttons, watermelon buttons, and ice cream buttons
You will also need a sewing needle, matching sewing threads, a hot glue gun and a craft cutter to remove the shanks.
The Pattern I used:
For my gnome I used my previously designed pattern. The pattern is free on this website and can be found here: crochet Valentin’s Day Gnome.
This pattern is also available as a print-friendly, styled and advertisement-free PDF files. You can get them from my Etsy shop here: Gnome crochet pattern.
A video tutorial for the gnome is available on my YouTube channel HERE.
2. Embellish your gnomes with decorative buttons. You can use buttons of your choice and embellish your gnome in your way.
If your buttons have shanks, you will need to cut the shanks off. Use a hot glue gun to attach the buttons.
I hope you enjoyed this crochet summer gnome!
Happy Crocheting!
