Fuchsia Flower
The fuchsia flower consists of a top part, 2 bottom parts, 2 stamens, and a pistil.
Top part
With Color A, Ch 6;
work in back ridge of chain – SC in 3rd Ch from hook, SC in next 3 Chs,
Petal 1: Ch 6, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in next Ch, 2 SC in next, SC in next 2, Sl St into post of next St (insert your hook under two strands);
Petal 2: Ch 6, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next, HDC in next 2, 2 SC in last, Sl St into same place as last Sl St of Petal 1;
Petal 3: Ch 7, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in next, SC2tog, SC in next 2, Sl St into same place as last Sl St of Petal 1 and 2. Fasten off.
Bottom part – make 2
With Color B, Ch 8;
mark first chain from hook with a stitch marker, SC in next Ch, SC in each of next 5 Chs, 4 SC in next (last) Ch, do not turn;
Row 1. Continue working on opposite side of Ch – SC in each of next 6 Sts, 3 SC in marked chain, SC in each of next 7 Sts, Ch 2, turn;
Row 2. SC in first St, SC in each of next 3 Sts, Sl St in next 8 Sts, SC in each of next 3 Sts, HDC in next St, Ch 2, Sl St in same St. Fasten off.
Stamens and Pistil
Stamen – make 2 with Color A, pistil – make one with Color C.
Cut the thread about 4” – 5” long for each stamen and pistil and make a knot on one end. Then, thread three seedbeads. Thread another tail end into the sewing needle and sew the stamen (pistil) to the bottom part of the flower from the back. Make stamens about 1” long and pistil about 1-1/4” long.
To assemble the flower, use a sewing needle and matching thread to sew the top part onto the bottom part. Then, sew the second bottom part to the back to cover the stitches and thread ends.
Spray the flower with starch, making sure not to spray the stamens and pistil. Shape the petals and allow the flower to dry.
Assembling the earring
Use flat nose pliers to open and close jump rings.
1. Open the first jump ring and slip it under two strands on the top of the flower. Then, close the jump ring.
2. Open the next jump ring and attach it to the ear wire. While the jump ring is open, slide onto it the first jump ring with the flower, then close it.
