Flower
The flower consists of a top part, bottom part, 2 stamens, and pistil.
Top part (open flower) – make 2
With Color A and crochet hook 1/2.75 mm, Ch 6;
work in back ridge of chain – SC in 3rd Ch from hook, SC in next 3 Chs,
Petal 1: Ch 6, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in next Ch, 2 SC in next, SC in next 2, Sl St into post of next St (insert your hook under two strands);
Petal 2: Ch 6, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next, HDC in next 2, 2 SC in last, Sl St into same place as last Sl St of Petal 1;
Petal 3: Ch 7, Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in next, SC2tog, SC in next 2, Sl St into same place as last Sl St of Petal 1 and 2. Fasten off.
Top part (closed flower)
With Color A and crochet hook 1/2.75 mm, Ch 6;
work in back ridge of chain – SC in 3rd Ch from hook, SC in next 3 Chs,

Row 1. Continue working on opposite side of Ch – SC in each of next 6 Sts, 3 SC in marked chain, SC in each of next 7 Sts, Ch 2, turn;
Row 2. SC in first St, SC in each of next 3 Sts, Sl St in next 8 Sts, SC in each of next 3 Sts, HDC in next St, Ch 2, Sl St in same St. Fasten off.
Stamen – make 6 (2 for each flower)
With Color E and crochet hook 6/1.8 mm,Ch 10; HDC in 3rd Ch from hook, Sl St in same. Fasten off. Save beginning tail for sewing stamen on.
Pistil – make 3
With Color F and crochet hook 6/1.8 mm,Ch 15; HDC in 3rd Ch from hook, Sl St in same. Fasten off. Save beginning tail for sewing pistil on.
Assemble the flower – using sewing needle and matching thread, sew top part onto the bottom part; using saved tails, sew stamens and pistil to the bottom part from the back side.
Make a flower stem – with crochet hook 1/2.75 mm, join Color D to the top part and Ch 7 for the first open flower, Ch 15 for the second open flower and Ch 12 for the closed flower. Fasten off. Save the end tail for sewing stem on.
Leaf – make 6
With Color D and crochet hook 1/2.75 mm, Ch 10;
Rnd 1. Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook, SC in next, HDC in next, DC in next 3, HDC in next, SC in next 2, Ch 3, SC in 3rd Ch from hook, continue working on opposite side of chain – SC in next 2, HDC in next, DC in next 3, HDC in next, SC in next, Sl St in last. Fasten off.
Branch
With Color C and crochet hook 1/2.75 mm, Ch 35;
Sl St in 2nd chain from hook and in next 26, SC in remaining 7 chains. Fasten off.
Finishing
Using saved flower stem ends, sew them to the branch. Using sewing needle and matching thread, sew leaves on. Block applique.
