Crochet Snowflakes must be blocked and starched to achieve the desired effect.
How to Block Snowflake
To block your snowflake, you will need a pinning board. For a pinning board, you can use a cork board, a sheet of styrofoam, or a piece of pressed cardboard.
Cover it with plastic wrap, so that it will be waterproof.
Soak the snowflake with commercial starch or fabric stiffener. Gently squeeze out any excess liquid.
Place the snowflake on the pinning board and using rustproof pins, pin the crochet snowflake to shape.
Allow to dry completely before removing it.
I hope you enjoyed this Snowflake free crochet pattern!
Happy Crocheting!

Hi, I have a question to one term you use (English isn’t my first language, and I can’t make sense of the meaning, I’m sorry.) In Rnd. 4 you mention “working under 2 loops” – could you explain what this means, or maybe link to an explanation? I really like the look of the snowflake! Thank you so much for this pattern!

There are several ways how to crochet into a chain stitch. Often I am using “under two loops (or strands)” technique as it creates a smaller hole.
Look at your chain. The front looks like a series of “V’s”. Turn it over and there is a ridge or bump on the wrong side. When pattern says work under two loops, hold the front of chain facing you and insert your hook into the center of the V’s and under the back bar. You will have two loops (strands) on your hook. Hope this will help!

That helped me understand! Thank you so much – this ended up being a much easier stitch than I had imagined.
