Materials:
For my hearts, I used cotton crochet thread size 10 in two colors (Color A and Color B) and crochet hook size 6/1.8 mm. You are welcome to experiment with different yarn weights and hook sizes.

This crochet Valentine’s Day heart is about 1-1/8”

To make this crochet Valentine’s Day heart, I used a previously designed large heart pattern (it was published in the post Crochet Hearts Free Pattern). I made my heart in two colors.

With Color A – Ch 4;
Rnd 1. Make all of the next stitches into the fourth Ch from hook (the first Ch made) working under both loops – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC (Heart point), Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC; Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, HDC + DC in first St, 3 TR in next St, 2 DC in next St, HDC into each of next 3 Sts, HDC in Ch-1 St, Ch 1, DC in next St (Heart point),
Ch 1, HDC in Ch-1 St, HDC into each of next 3 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 TR in next St, DC and HDC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center, cut the yarn leaving about 5” tail, draw tail through the loop and pull tight.
Rnd 3. Join Color B into the center of the Heart, Ch 3, SC in first St, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in each of the next 6 Sts, SC in Ch-1 stitch, Ch 1, DC in next St (Heart point),
Ch 1, SC in Ch-1 stitch, SC in each of the next 6 Sts, 2 SC in each of next 4 Sts, SC in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center, cut the yarn leaving about 5” tail, draw tail through the loop and pull tight.
Finishing:
You can fasten off and weave in the ends or you can leave them hanging out as I did. I just secured them by making two knots from the back side of the heart.
Block your hearts as necessary.
