Notes:
1. How to change to a new color
Work the stitch with the first color, but do not complete the stitch. You will have 2 loops remain on the hook. Drop first color and draw through the loops on the hook new color and complete the stitch
2. Crochet over your yarn ends – by crocheting over them as you go, you’ll reduce the number of ends to weave in.
Special Stitches:
Standing DC
- Make a slip knot.
- YO, holding loop on hook, insert hook in specified stitch (space).
- YO and pull up a loop (you have 3 loops on hook).
- [YO and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice.

With Color A, make magic ring,
Round 1. Ch 3 (counts as DC), 11 DC in ring, join with Sl St to top of Ch 3. Total – 12 DC. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Round 2. Join Color B with standing SC in last St of previous round, SC in same St, 2 SC in each of next St around, join with Sl St to first SC. Total – 24 SC. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Round 3. In this row, change the color every DC stitch.
Join Color A with standing DC in last St (change to Color B), DC in same St (change to Color A),
DC in next St (change to Color B), DC in next St (change to Color A),
DC in same St (change to Color B), DC in next St (change to Color A),
continue the pattern around, changing color every stitch: 2 DC in next St, DC in next St, last St should be made in Color B, change to Color A.
Join with Sl St to first DC. Total – 36 DC. Cut Color A off, fasten off. Do not cut off Color B.
Round 4. Insert hook into last St of previous Round, grab Color B and pull up a loop,Ch 1, SC in same St, SC in each St around, join with Sl St to first SC. Total – 36 SC. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Round 5. Join Color A with standing HDC in BL of last St, BLO entire round: HDC in same St, HDC in each of next 2 Sts, *2 HDC in next St, HDC in each of next 2 Sts, repeat from * around, join with Sl St to first HDC. Total – 48 HDC. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Round 6. Join Color B to last St of previous round, *Ch 1, 2 HDC in same St, skip one St, Sl St in next St, repeat from * around, make last Sl St into same place where you joined. Total – 24 scallops. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
