This crochet snowman coaster set includes a snowman head and two coasters. Please note that the snowman head is not meant to be used as a coaster as it is too small in diameter.

Abbreviations:
Ch – chain
DC – double crochet
HDC – half double crochet

Finished Size:
The large coaster is about 4-1/2” in diameter, medium coaster is about 4″, and the snowman head is about 2-3/4” in diameter
Yarn:
- Medium weight #4 cotton yarn (I used Sugar’n Cream cotton yarn). Colors – white and black
- A small amount of orange yarn for the nose (or you can use a craft carrot button)
Hook and other materials:
- Crochet hook 4.5 mm
- Stitch marker
- Two small 6 mm black buttons for the eyes
- Red and black embroidery floss
- Snowflake button
- Sewing needle
- Black sewing thread
- Embroidery needle
- Make up red blush powder (you can also use red pencil or crayon)
- Q-tip

Note:
The snowman parts are worked in continuous rounds. Use stitch marker to mark first stitch of each round.
For this fun snowman we need to make two coasters and head with a hat.

Large coaster
With white color, make magic ring,
Round 1. Ch 1, 6 SC into the ring. Draw the loop closed. To make it easier to do, first untwist the tail, then pull the tail to draw the loop tightly closed. Do not join the round.
Round 2. 2 SC in each St of the previous round. Total – 12 SC. Mark the first SC in this round with a stitch marker. Move the marker with each new round.
Round 3. *2 SC in next St, SC in next St*, repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Total – 18 SC.
Round 4. *2 SC in next St, SC in each of the next 2 Sts*, repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Total – 24 SC.
Round 5. *2 SC in next St, SC in each of the next 3 Sts*, repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Total – 30 SC.
Round 6. SC in each of next 2 Sts, 2 SC in next St, *SC in each of the next 4 Sts, 2 SC in next St*, repeat from * to * 4 more times, SC in each of next 2 Sts. Total – 36 SC.
Round 7. *2 SC in next St, SC in each of the next 5 Sts*, repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Total – 42 SC.
Round 8. SC in each of next 3 Sts, 2 SC in next St, *SC in each of the next 6 Sts, 2 SC in next St*, repeat from * to * 4 more times, SC in each of next 3 Sts. Total – 48 SC.
Round 9. *2 SC in next St, SC in each of the next 7 Sts*, repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Total – 54 SC.
Round 10. SC in each of next 4 Sts, 2 SC in next St, *SC in each of the next 8 Sts, 2 SC in next St*, repeat from * to * 4 more times, SC in each of next 4 Sts. Total – 60 SC.
Round 11. Sl St into each of next 2 Sts. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Medium Coaster
Follow the instructions for the large coaster: Rounds 1-8.
Round 9. Sl St into each of next 2 Sts. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Head
Follow the instructions for the large coaster: Rounds 1 – 4.
Round 5. SC in each of next 2 Sts, 2 SC in next St, *SC in each of the next 3 Sts, 2 SC in next St*, repeat from * to * 4 more times, SC in last St, do not join the round. Total – 30 SC.
Round 6. Sl St into each of next 2 Sts. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Hat
With black color, Ch 5,
Row 1. SC in 2nd Ch from the hook and in each of next 3. Total – 4 SC. Turn.
Row 2, 3. Ch 1, SC in each St across. Total – 4 SC. Turn.
Row 4. Ch 3, SC in 3rd Ch, SC in last St of previous Row and in each of next 3 Sts, do not turn, Ch 3, SC in 3rd Ch, Sl St in next St. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Finishing
1. Block all parts.
2. Using a sewing needle and matching thread, sew the hat onto the head. Sew two black round buttons onto the head to create the eyes. Sew the snowflake button onto the hat (if using a flat-back snowflake button, glue it on instead of sewing)
3. Using orange yarn, make 2-3 stitches to create the carrot nose.
4. Using red embroidery floss and an embroidery needle, embroider a smile.
5. Using a Q-tip and makeup blush powder, add blush to the snowman’s cheeks.
6. Using black embroidery floss and an embroidery needle, embroider two buttons on the large coaster.
7. Using black embroidery floss and an embroidery needle, embroider the arms and two buttons on the medium coaster.
8. Finally, stack all the parts together, as shown in the picture below.
