Heart – base
With two strands of medium weight #4 yarn held together in pink and crochet hook size J-10/6 mm, make magic ring;
Round 1. Ch 3, make all of the next stitches into the ring – 3 DC, 3 HDC, Ch 1, DC, Ch 1, 3 HDC, 3 DC; Ch 3, Sl St in ring.
Round 2. Ch 3, (HDC, DC) in first St, 3 TR in next St, 2 DC in next St, HDC in each of next 3 Sts, HDC in Ch-1, (HDC, DC, HDC) in next St, HDC in Ch-1, HDC in each of next 3 Sts, 2 DC in next St, 3 TR in next St, (DC, HDC) in next St, Ch 3, Sl St in center.
Round 3. Ch 3, HDC in first St, 2 HDC in each of next 5 Sts, HDC in each of the next 6 Sts, (HDC, DC, HDC) in next St, HDC in each of the next 6 Sts, 2 HDC in each of next 5 Sts, HDC in next St, Ch 4, Sl St in center. Fasten off first color. Secure the magic ring and weave in the ends.
Round 4 – decorative edge. Use one strand of medium weight #4 yarn in red color and crochet hook size J-10/6 mm. Join yarn into last Sl St of previous Round, leaving the tail about 7-8” long; Ch 1, Sl St in 2nd Ch of Ch 3 at the beginning of previous Round, Ch 1, Sl St in next Ch, *Ch 1, Sl St in next St, repeat from * around to Ch 3 at the end of previous Round, Ch 1, Sl St in 1st Ch, Ch 1, Sl St in next Ch, Ch 1, Sl St into same place where you joined. Cut off the yarn leaving a 7-8” tail.
Make a hanging loop by using two red yarn ends.
Fasten off.
Heart Lock
Follow the instructions for love lock HERE. You will need to make just one lock.
Finishing
With a sewing needle and matching sewing threads, sew the heart lock and key charm onto the heart base.
