Lavender – make 6
To make the lavender applique, I have modified a previously designed lavender pattern by shortening the flower. The original lavender pattern includes detailed pictures and a video tutorial. You can find the original pattern here: Crochet Lavender Applique.
Stem
With Color C and crochet hook 6/1.8 mm, Ch 20,
Row 1. Working in back ridge of the Chain – Sl St in 2nd Ch and in each next Ch to last, Sl St in last Ch (mark this St), Ch 2 (this makes Ch-2 space), Sl St in same last Ch, fasten off. Side facing you is right side.
Flowers
With the right side facing you, starting from marked St, count down the Stem 11 Sts.
Insert hook under two loops of 11th St and join Color D.
Row 1.*Ch 4, Sl St in 2nd Ch and in next Ch, skip next Ch, Sl St in same St where Ch 4 was started, skip next St of Stem, Sl St in next (insert hook under two loops)*, repeat from * to * 4 more times,
Ch 4, Sl St in 2nd Ch and in next Ch, skip next Ch, Sl St in same St where Ch 4 was started,
Sl St in Ch-2 space, Ch 3, Sl St in 2nd Ch, skip next, Sl St in Ch-2 space. Now continue working on opposite side of the Stem – you will insert hook into same spots where each Ch 4 on first side was made.
Sl St in first spot, **Ch 3, Sl St in 2nd Ch and in next Ch, Ch 1, Sl St in same spot, Sl St in next spot**, repeat from ** to ** 5 more times, last repeat – fasten off after Sl St in same spot.
Finishing
Make a hanging loop by using the yarn ends of two different colors that you have saved.
With a sewing needle and matching sewing threads, sew lavender flowers and bee buttons onto the heart.
