To make this ornament, we need to crochet the base, snowman face, nose, and eye and then sew them onto the base. Next, we will sew on snowflake buttons and a bird.

Base
Note: Beginning Ch 3 counts as a St.
With Color A and crochet hook 4.5 mm, make magic ring;
Rnd 1. Ch 3, 11 DC in ring, Sl St in top of Ch 3 at beginning of the Rnd to join. Total – 12 DC.
Rnd 2. Ch 3, DC in same St, 2 DC in each St around, Sl St in top of Ch 3 at beginning of the Rnd to join. Total – 24 DC.
Rnd 3. Ch 3, DC in same St, DC in next St, *2 DC in next St, DC in next St, repeat from * around, Sl St in top of Ch 3 at beginning of the Rnd to join. Total – 36 DC.
Rnd 4. Ch 3, DC in same St, DC in next 2 Sts, *2 DC in next St, DC in next 2 Sts, repeat from * around, Sl St in top of Ch 3 at beginning of the Rnd to join. Total – 48 DC. Fasten off.
Rnd 5. Border. Join Color B to first St of previous round, *Ch 1, HDC in same St, skip one St, Sl St in next St, repeat from * around, make last Sl St into same place where you joined. Total – 24 HDC. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Snowman’s face
Note: Beginning Ch 1 doesn’t count as a St.
With Color B and crochet hook 4.5 mm, make magic ring;
Row 1. Ch 1, 3 SC in ring. Tighten the ring. Total – 3 SC. Turn.
Row 2. Ch 1, 2 SC in each St. Total – 6 SC. Turn.
Row 3. Ch 1, SC in first St, [2 SC in next, SC in next] twice, SC in last St. Total – 8 SC. Turn.
Row 4. Ch 1, SC in first and in next St, [2 SC in next, SC in next 2] twice. Total – 10 SC. Turn.
Row 5. Ch 1, SC in first and in next 2 Sts, 2 SC in next, SC in next 3, 2 SC in next, SC in next 2. Total – 12 SC. Turn.
Row 6. Ch 1, SC in first and in next 3 Sts, 2 SC in next, SC in next 4, 2 SC in next, SC in next 2. Total – 14 SC. Turn.
Rnd 7. Ch 1, SC in first and in next 4 Sts, 2 SC in next, SC in next 5, 2 SC in next, SC in next, 3 SC in last St, do not turn, rotate your work and continue working around. Make SC in each row end St to last St (do not work into magic ring), 2 SC in last St, Sl St to first SC to join. Total – 30 SC. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Nose
With Color C and crochet hook 4.5 mm, Ch 9;
Row 1. Sl St in 2nd Ch from hook and in next 2, SC in next 3, HDC in next 2. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Eye
With black crochet cotton thread #10 and crochet hook 4/2.00 mm, make magic ring;
Rnd 1. Ch 2, 10 HDC in ring, join with Sl St to top of Ch 2.Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Using sewing needle and white thread, make a couple of stitches for the sparkle.
Finishing
If needed, block the base, snowman’s face and nose.
Using a sewing needle and matching thread, sew the snowman’s face onto the ornament base. Start by stitching around the perimeter of the face, then make a few stitches in the center to ensure it lays flat.
With a sewing needle and matching sewing threads, sew on nose and eye.
Sew snowflake buttons and bird on. (You can also glue the buttons on. To do this, if your buttons have shanks, use a craft cutter to cut off the shanks.)
Make a hanging loop.
