Yarn:
- Knit Picks Dishie, medium weight #4 yarn (UK yarn type – Aran). Color A – clementine, Color B – black
- Aunt Lydia’s crochet cotton thread size #10, Color C –black

- US size 7 (4.5 mm) crochet hook
- US size 6(1.8 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
- Sewing needle
- Black sewing thread
- Small spider button
- Cutter (to remove the shank)

Instructions:
For this project, we need to crochet a round coaster with a black edge and a spider web. Then, we will sew the web onto the coaster and attach the spider button.
Coaster
The coaster is worked in continuous rounds. Use stitch marker to mark first stitch of each round.
With Color A and size 7 (4.5 mm) hook, make a magic ring;
Round 1 (RS). Ch 1 (doesn’t count as a St), 6 SC in ring.
Round 2. 2 SC in each St around. Total – 12 SC.
Round 3. *2 SC in next St, SC in next St, repeat from * around. Total – 18 SC.
Round 4. *2 SC in next St, SC in each of the next 2 Sts, repeat from * around. Total – 24 SC.
Round 5. *2 SC in next St, SC in each of the next 3 Sts, repeat from * around. Total – 30 SC.
Round 6. SC in each of next 2 Sts, 2 SC in next St, *SC in each of the next 4 Sts, 2 SC in next St*, repeat from * to * 4 more times, SC in each of next 2 Sts. Total – 36 SC.
Round 7. *2 SC in next St, SC in each of the next 5 Sts, repeat from * around. Total – 42 SC.
Round 8. SC in each of next 3 Sts, 2 SC in next St, *SC in each of the next 6 Sts, 2 SC in next St*, repeat from * to * 4 more times, SC in each of next 3 Sts. Total – 48 SC.
Round 9. *2 SC in next St, SC in each of the next 7 Sts, repeat from * around. Total – 54 SC. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Round 10. Join Color B to first St of previous round, *Ch 1, Sl St in next St, repeat from * around, last Sl St work into St where you joined. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Spider Web
Row 1. With Color C and size 6/1.8 mm hook, Ch 4 (count as Ch 1 and Ch 3 as first DC), 5 DC in 4th chain from hook. Total – 6 DC. Turn.
Row 2. Ch 5 (count as Ch 3 as first DC and Ch 2), DC in next St, [Ch 2, DC in next St] 4 times, work last DC in top of Ch 4 at the beginning of previous row. Total – 6 DC and 5 spaces. Turn.
Row 3. Ch 8 (count as Ch 4 as first TR and Ch 4), TR in next St, [Ch 4, TR in next St] 3 times, Ch 4, skip 2 Chs, TR in next Ch. Total – 6 TR and 5 spaces. Turn.
Row 4. Ch 10 (count as Ch 4 as first TR and Ch 6), TR in next St, [Ch 6, TR in next St] 3 times, skip 4 Chs, TR in next Ch. Total – 6 TR and 5 spaces. Turn.
Row 5. Ch 12 (count as Ch 4 for the first TR and Ch 8), TR in next St, [Ch 8, TR in next St] 3 times, skip 6 Chs, TR in next Ch. Total – 6 TR and 5 spaces. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Finishing
1. Block coaster and spider web.
2. Using a sewing needle and black sewing thread, sew the spider web onto the RS of the coaster, positioning it so that it covers the last stitch of the coaster.
3. Use a hot glue gun to attach the spider button. If the button has a shank, remove it first using a cutter.
